The idea of the fish comes from that scene of Blue submarine no.6, it was really cute and it's my favorite character of that anime.

Process/Proceso

We started the character design with a basic shape, as I mentioned I want to represent as much as possible the original character. We make the sketch in red color, at this point we correct and leave the whole idea ready. As a final step we make the lineart in black color, this step took me some time because I wanted the lines to be as accurate as possible.

Iniciamos el diseño del personaje con una forma básica, como les mencione quiero representar en lo posible al personaje original. Hacemos el boceto en color rojo, en este punto corregimos y dejamos toda la idea lista. Como paso final hacemos el lineart en color negro, este paso me llevo algo de tiempo pues quería que las lineas fueras lo mas exactas posibles.

We apply the base color, this step is not complex, but it is time consuming due to the number of layers and the different colors. We will use colors similar to those of the reference but that adjust to my style of drawing, I mean the saturation used.

Aplicamos el color base, esta etapa no es compleja, pero sí demanda tiempo por la cantidad de capas y los diferentes colores. Usaremos colores similares a los de la referencia pero que se ajusten a mi estilo de dibujo, me refiero a la saturación usada.

We start by giving details on the skin, apply soft shadows and finally the highlights of the skin. I wanted to give it a warm tone with red tones. Before going on I made a simple background with star details, something that fits with the emotion of the character when he gives you the fish. Let's trust in the process I know it will look great. Like the other character, this one also has a kind of lycra with zipper but not so elaborate, we give shadows using dark tones and then apply a noise effect to simulate the fabric.

Empezamos dando detalles por la piel, aplicamos sombras suaves y por ultimo las luces de la misma. Quise darle un tono cálido con tonos rojos Antes de seguir le hice un fondo simple con detalles de estrellas, algo que convine con la emoción del personaje al entregarte el pescado. Confiemos en el proceso se que quedara genial. Al igual que el otro personaje, este también tiene una especie de licra con cierre pero no tan elaborado, le damos sombras usando tonos oscuros y luego aplicamos un efecto de ruido para simular la tela.
