What is RIGHT with HIVE

Welcome to HIVE!

Some time back, I published a post titled: The Problem with HIVE. I thought I should follow up with a post regarding the outstanding projects and communities which make HIVE unique and superior to other blockchains.

HIVE's Origins

The HIVE blockchain is a hardfork of the STEEM blockchain which was founded by Daniel Larimer and Ned Scott (aka @ned). The fork was a consensus by the majority of the STEEM community after Justin Sun purchased Steemit.com. The majority of the projects and communities migrated to the newly created blockchain with just a few exceptions. Those folks who did not participate in the exodus to HIVE are sorely missed.

MY THREE FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT THE HIVE BLOCKCHAIN

In response to @theycallmedan's ongoing social media challenges, I am going to share with everyone my three favorite things about the HIVE blockchain and why I have been here through thick and thin these past seven years. Let us start out with...

COMMUNITIES

The HIVE blockchain, at its core, is a blogging platform created using blockchain technology. There are many different topic specific communities which include, but are not limited to:

  • Cryptocurrency
  • Art
  • Mental Health
  • Crafting
  • Travel
  • Finance
  • Gardening...

Whatever your interest, there is more than likely a Hive Community that covers it! Below are a few of the communities that I enjoy and are very helpful in navigating the HIVE Blockchain platform.

THE TERMINAL

Founded by @xcountytravelers (aka Ren), @brittandjosie (aka Yoda Britt) and @thekittygirl, @theterminal is probably the most helpful community for new users of the HIVE blockchain. They have a great team of advisors for people new to blockchain and cryptocurrency. If they can not answer your question? They know where to send you to get the answer!

The Terminal has a Discord™️ server where you can talk in real time with the members. Within the server, @thekittygirl has provided a FAQ (frequently asked questions) channel. Another amazing team member is @jamerussell who promotes introductory posts of newcomers to HIVE and assists in the administration of the Discord server. A integral part of The Terminal is @wesphilbin, who always spreads positivity and encouragement. He also heads up the @thoughtfulposts blog. The team has been around since the creation of HIVE.

DREEMPORT

Curation is a very important part of succeeding in the HIVE ecosystem. This is where the DREEMPORT community comes into play. Much like the Terminal, it aids in learning the in and outs of the HIVE blockchain culture with an emphasis on curation of content. Its founder, @dreemsteem, has been a HIVE community organizer since the old STEEM days. She is also the author of the Firefly series, an online fantasy novel.

Pimp Your Post Thursday

https://youtu.be/PqTb798-xR8?si=nIvWEciqj3HKoDhW The Dreemport Discord server also hosts the Pimp Your Post Thursday (PYPT) podcast which is broadcasted live weekly. PYPT is the first of its kind weekly curation podcast, promoting bloggers and content curators from all around the world. The producer of the show is @shadowspub, who has been hosting the show for the past seven years. @thekittygirl is also an integral part of the podcast, providing IT help when necessary.

VETERANS ON HIVE

Originally founded by @guiltyparties, Veterans on HIVE is a community specifically for Veterans and those that support them. There are a good number of Veterans who contribute to the HIVE ecosystem. The Veteran's community is currently led by @wesphilbin, an US Army Artillery Veteran.

GAMING ON HIVE

There are quite a few games on the HIVE blockchain. My two favorites are Splinterlands and Rising Star. I have also tried out Exode and DCity. Let us take a look at the two that I am most familiar with and play most often.

Rising Star Game

Go from lowly busker to global mega star in our FREE TO PLAY music career simulation right here on HIVE! Log in with Hive Keychain, start a mission and that's it! What are you waiting for?Juxta

The Rising Star Game created by Juxta (aka @atomcollector) is a fun game where you play as a musician trying to become a superstar! It is like you're on a big adventure to make your way to the top of the music world.

There are many aspects to the game, too numerous to go into here. It is free to play and you can earn HIVE tokens (Starbits, Starpro and Stardust) as well as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Musicians can also leverage the game to promote their music. There are many excellent musicians that feature their music on the game's integrated Rising Star Radio. Some of my favorites are: @stickupboys, @trentonlundy1, and @ravenmus1c.

SPLINTERLANDS.COM

Splinterlands, originally Steemmonsters, was founded by @aggroed (Dr. Jessie Reich) and @yabapmatt (Mr. Matt Rosen). The first of its kind blockchain based play to earn game, it has found a great deal of popularity worldwide.

Players can earn tokens and NFTs by playing. It is also integrated with other blockchain networks such as Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain to name just a couple.

Folks have all sorts of ways to earn tokens to include tournaments.

Decentralization

HIVE is a decentralized blockchain which is built on the delegated proof of stake model. In other words, the more one invests the more one has a say in HIVE's direction. Being a capitalist myself, I believe this is the best type of blockchain type.

Some detractors might say that HIVE is not truly decentralized, but I believe HIVE is as decentralized as it gets!

To sum it all up, I like HIVE for its: community, gaming apps, and its decentralized model. What do you like about HIVE? Please let me know in the comments.
