Yesterday, I took advantage of a day off and went fishing with my brother and a friend. We had a good catch, and we actually caught the biggest fish we've ever caught so far.
The day was beautiful, sunny, and calm, with just a light breeze — just enough to break the heat that was scorching us while we were fishing.
I caught a sea bass weighing 1.31 kg, and my brother caught a gilt-head bream weighing 2.98 kg — which are almost record-sized for this spot in the past four years we've been fishing here. Very few people have managed to catch fish this big around here.
As soon as we got home, our mom cleaned them and put them straight into the freezer. Now we're waiting for Friday, when we'll grill them and also toast some bread soaked in olive oil and make a potato salad to go with it.
Of course, they say a fish should first swim in the sea and then in wine, so we'll also enjoy some homemade red wine after the meal.
Bon appétit, my friend.
