Yesterday I talked with one of my English teachers back in O levels, it was quite a humbling experience for me as a graduate now looking to kickstart my career in whatever field I find my interest in. She told me about her life experiences and the struggles she felt during her days as a student and then success eventually came knocking down. I'm writing her story in her own words, hope people here can take inspiration from it.
While childhood was a fairytale, teenage life brought an avalanche of hardships for the three of us. Finances took a huge dip. I remember my precious mother selling all her immense gold for my O level while my beloved father worked away from the city to salvage wht was left. I remember attending tuitions in an auto where my mother took a lot of pain in bringing me to and fro damaging her back all the way. Computer project meant a functioning PC which kept getting haywire and I walked with the CPU in my hand for a good 20 minutes to get it corrected endlessly, my mother and I catcalled, chased by men. I began teaching tuitions and in school right after my A level with ACCA. I recall changing three buses for the centre 😁 and from their I learnt independence in every way. The hard work continued and things eventually began changing for the better and subsequently the best (mashaaAllah).
WE LIVED THROUGH IT ALL AS A SUPER BONDED FAMILY. They always ensured I am strong and tough yet completely backed and supported. Hence I kept leaping forward. The Purple House(please rest assured its not even 66% purple 😛) was one of the most coveted things I lived for. When people used to say to my parents that she is a girl and an only child as a sympathy, I decided NAH, I am much more.
I worked hard at what I love and now have fulfilled my dream of becoming the school principal at your school. Guiding young alumnus like you and new students to come, I'm telling you this so that our next generation can take inspiration from my story and carve their own path to success hopefully.
