Life Can Be Amazing!

The photo above was taken at the Tea Tree Shopping Centre over a week ago. I’d just finished helping a young Chinese guy named Caden with his English pronounciation.

We’d met on an app called Red Note. I don’t use it much, but there are local Chinese people who do and a lot of Americans started using it after the TikTok ban-unban-potential upcoming ban-fiasco.

I went there initially to support friends and made new ones as a result. There are some gorgeous Chinese women on there too.

He paid for this Iced Chocolate at Cafe Primo for me.

Right now I am sitting at Fast Pasta in Salisbury. I’ve ordered their Spaghetti and Meatballs, and a Chocolate Milkshake and their Minestrone Soup to take home afterwards.

It’s a good time to pause and reflect on how amazing life can be. Sure, there are bad aspects to it too, but I think I have dwelled on those things for far too long in my blog posts here.

I am also sure there are surreal aspects to your own life if you think hard enough, you know the stuff that’s 100% true but no one would believe you if you told them because it’s unbelievable / a dream come true.

I won’t reveal anything like that just yet, but maybe sometime in the future I will. For now though, I am appreciating the small things.

In regards to my health, I got the results back from a recent blood and urine test. The numbers were good. I am still diabetic, but my B12 levels were in the normal range.

I am a lot healthier than I was 6 months ago!

The secret is to eat more broccoli and other green vegetables as it lowers the hemoglobin levels somewhat.

That and a lot of walking and lifting weights helps too.

The weight doesn’t have to be heavy to be effective, in fact lighter weights means higher repetition numbers.

Work Opportunities

A few years ago, during a dry spell between shifts, I decided that I needed to pivot somewhat.

I applied for several part time job companies. Many of them are now useless, and I will need to get them to remove my name from their books and records at some point, but they were essential to my survival at the time.

I also invested in various training courses and clearances that would improve my chances of getting more work.

This is just a random sampling as there are more, I just haven’t taken selfies for them.

The shifts and jobs can be somewhat random, so it can mean booking shifts weeks in advance. Jobs can also be cancelled, or given to other people, frustratingly.

There are perks, like sometimes during hospitality shifts the kitchen will set aside meals for the wait staff. I sometimes get to see pandas at the Adelaide Zoo for free too.

I’ve also set up a new YouTube Channel because the 3Speak app is unreliable, but for other reasons too. I’ll explore those deeper in the future, but for now have had over 13,000 views and have 138 subscribers.

It’s certainly not easy, but I have made new friends and local connections as a result.

I am far from wealthy, despite doing well here on Hive and all of the real world grinding that I am doing, but I also have to occasionally stop and see that life can be great at times.

It’s sometimes is the little things that make all of the difference in the world.

That’s all from me today. Thank you for reading.
