Greetings ๐ dearest community members and Hiveans. Another nostalgia, toys are something I rarely remember. Kindly share your memory after reading these rules
I remember playing with balls in the garden, swinging in the swing made of wood, tied to the mango tree and mostly during functions playing with balloons. One thing I can never forget was a rocking chair made of wood. Infact, a big fight as to who will sit first was the reason for fight between me and my sister, who is 5 years younger to me.
But apart from all this was the Home made toys made out of coconut leaf and jackfruit leaf. This usually happened on our vacation to our homeland. I still remember those golden days when me and my cousins ever spared a tender coconut leaf to make amazings things out of it - ball, watch, hat, a movable cart, glasses, an instrument with another leaf to produce sound etc.
My parents are here with me for a short stay and on seeing this topic, I took the help of my mother to make thesecoconut leaf toys as Iam quite bad at it. So she made a beautiful ball and a watch out of it.
My cat was curiously waiting for the ball to get done.
Toys were far behind, as we were always occupied with a collection of friends right from very young age. This applies to my neighbourhood also. The reason being, most parents were just low income government employees who were forced to meet the family expenses with their meagre income until the end of the month. They also felt it was unnecessary and expensive.
But truse me we had our own fun. Yes, for sure I remember one thing. We used to make balls out of coconut leaf and with the help of baby coconuts we used to make a moving toy. It was made with the help of two baby coconuts and a coconut stick,. The two end of the coconut stick is inserted in the baby coconut, and in the mid a rope is tied so that we can pull it along with us and the baby coconut nut rotates like a wheel while pulling it.
Such stuffs are no more available or seen now-a-days. All are being replaced by plastic and rubber toys which are readily available in market. Making such toys by ourselves gives us immense pleasure besides a mechanical brain.
All these were done today. It was a real nostalgia for me and my mother. Though she forgot, with the flow of working she completed successfully and infact, my father gave her a helpong hand at the end.
Thankyou for being with me in this journey of making. Thanks for your patient visit to my blog. ๐
