Last Friday, I went to eat at Five Guys at Pavilion Damansara for lunch. Currently, there are only 3 outlets for Five Guys in Malaysia and the other ones are at Genting and Pavilion Bukit Bintang. I used to live in California but I never tried this fast food joint. My mom said it wasn't that good but I still wanted to try it for myself. I went to eat alone while my mom, grandma and aunts went for a bakuteh restaurant. I didn't really want to eat bakuteh and I saw the reviews for that restaurant weren't that good so I opted for Five Guys.
It wasn't that crowded as it was a bit early and this mall is still fairly new. There's still a lot of shops coming soon and it didn't help that it was a weekday. I went ahead and ordered their anniversary set which came with a cheeseburger, fries and a drink. I didn't take a picture of the drink but I took coke.
The cheese burger came with a double patty. I was able to choose my toppings and sauces. I went with lettuce and tomato with a mayo and bbq sauce. The burger was bigger than I expected which was nice. The beef patty was nice and with everything else you can't really go wrong. For me, it's important the patty is nice for the burger to be good because it's hard to mess up on buns and toppings and sauces.
The fries were nice and had a fair amount of portion for the smallest size. Personally, I liked the fries. They were a bit oily crunchy and just overall yummy.
As for the cost, it came out to almost RM65 which is quite high for a fast food burger restaurant in Malaysia. It's actually the most I've ever spent on a fast food burger restaurant in Malaysia for my own portion. I liked the food but I don't think it was worth the price. I will most likely not be coming back as there are better alternatives at a better price point. I still think in and out from when I was in California was better. If you live in Malaysia, I wouldn't recommend trying Five Guys.
