It’s Saturday again, and I am alone at my sister’s place. No errands, no plans, nothing much to do. At first, I thought of just lying down all day scrolling through my phone. Instead of letting the day just pass by, I thought of giving myself a little treat. What better way to spend a quiet Saturday than to have a cozy movie marathon, paired with a refreshing glass of homemade iced coffee? It felt like the perfect Saturdate with myself, just simple, relaxing, and just what I needed. The perfect time to have a movie marathon! ☺️❤️
Now, a good movie day definitely needs a good drink. Plain water? Nope. Hot coffee? Too serious. I went with something more fun, the iced coffee! But not the instant, just-add-water type. I decided to make my own version that feels a bit like a mocha frappe. ☺️
So, I grabbed a teaspoon of decaf coffee and two teaspoons of brown sugar, mixed them together, and whisked like crazy. The more you whisk, the fluffier it gets like a soft cloud of coffee foam. If you keep going, it almost looks like whipped cream. Honestly, my arm got a mini workout just from whisking. 😁😂
Next, I took a big glass and added some chocolate filling (not syrup because that's the only available in the fridge 😁), drizzling it around the sides to make it look and taste a bit fancier. Then, I poured in half of the whipped coffee-sugar mix, added some ice cubes, filled it up with cold water and give it a little stir. After stirring, I topped it off with the rest of the coffee foam.
My iced coffee masterpiece is ready. It is simple and homemade. Of course, it is creamy on top, sweet and refreshing at the bottom, with chocolate peeking through.
I sit back with my drink in hand, on the tv, and let the movie marathon begin.
There’s something comforting about enjoying a good film while sipping on a drink you made yourself. It doesn’t have to be fancy, it’s more about the feeling of slowing down, treating yourself, and making the most of your quiet time. No rushing, no distractions, just a quiet little moment for myself.
Sometimes, it’s the simplest things like this that make weekends special. A cup of iced coffee, a few good movies, and a little me-time can be more refreshing than going out. It reminded me that being alone doesn’t mean being lonely. My little movie Saturdate turned out to be just what I needed to recharge and enjoy my own company.
