There is something unique and simply special about the rich aroma of hot coffee. It's so sublime, it has an impressive power; it's as if we paused time for a moment.
It may sound crazy and it's not really what happens, but you can't deny that coffee has a magic that allows the heart to quiet down, our thoughts to align and pause, and above all, life to feel even lighter.
Today, like every Sunday, a special time with family, I decided to make a cup of hot coffee, and I was reminded that love has a great similarity to it. Love is often intentionally tender and has that special touch of warmth that comforts the soul, and that's exactly what I experience when I take a sip of coffee.
You know, during the past month, my husband and I have been participating in a fantastic course dedicated to "healthy parenting." Through this process, we've discovered different ways to express love within our families. One of the topics that has most impacted my life, and in fact, allowed me to rediscover some new ways of doing things, has been Gary Chapman's book, The Five Love Languages. It invites us to identify how we can feel happier by giving and receiving affection.
And indeed, one of those languages, and we could say a fundamental and profound one, is the gift of service. That's why today I decided to put it into practice at home with a cup of coffee and share it with my beloved husband, who is also a teacher and decided to dedicate part of his Sunday off to planning and organizing his week. I felt the urge to join him, and during the process, I prepared that coffee we both love and served it with a small slice of cake. For many, it might seem like a simple gesture, and it is, but it was truly filled with affection.
It wasn't just about spending time together, but also about sweetening the soul with these snacks and remembering that love is built with these small details and in the silent company of a delicious cup of coffee and with the willingness and service to serve with love and joy.
Before we continue, you might be wondering, "Wait, but where does healthy parenting come in?" Well, I decided to give our little ones their slice of cake along with a glass of cold milk, and while I watched them enjoy it, I thought about how truly important it is to teach them that love is also expressed at the table, in those small gestures, in knowing how to listen, and in dedicating a pleasant, quality time filled with wonderful distractions.
Today, coffee was more than just a drink; it was a beautiful reminder that we always need small moments and occasions to show each other love, and that service comes from the depths of the heart—a universal language that we all understand and that doesn't even need words.
Perhaps the secret lies there, in those small daily rituals that strengthen bonds and return us to the essence of who we are: family, love, companionship, and faith.

Café, amor y pequeños gestos que nutren el alma [eng-esp]
Existe algo único y sencillamente especial como lo es el rico aroma de un tinto caliente. Es algo tan sublime que tiene un poder impresionante, parece que por un momento hiciéramos una pausa en el tiempo.
Quizás pueda sonar una locura y no es realmente lo que sucede, pero no pueden negar que el café tiene una magia que permite que el corazón se aquiete, que nuestros pensamientos se alineen y hagan una pausa y sobre todo que la vida se sienta aún más ligera.
Hoy como todos los domingos que es un tiempo especial en familia, me decidí a preparar una taza de café caliente y pude recordar que el amor tiene una gran similitud con ella. El amor suele ser intencional tierno y tiene ese toque especial de calidez que reconforta el alma y eso mismo experimento cuando tomo un sorbo de café en mi paladar.
Saben durante el mes que recién culmina junto a mi esposo hemos estado siendo parte de un curso espectacular, dedicado a la “crianzas saludable” en este proceso hemos logrado descubrir diferentes alternativas de cómo expresar el amor dentro de la familia. Entre uno de los temas que más ha impactado mi vida y de hecho me ha permitido desempolvar acciones ha sido el libro de los cinco lenguajes del amor del autor Gary Chapman. El cual nos invita a identificar cómo podemos sentirnos más felices al dar y recibir afecto.
Y de hecho uno de esos lenguajes y pudiésemos decir que primordial y profundo es el don de servicio. Es por ello que hoy decidí ponerlo en práctica en mi casa con una taza de café y compartirlo junto a mi amado esposo quien también es docente y decidió dedicar parte de su domingo de descanso para planificar y organizar su semana. Sentí la inquietud de acompañarlo, pero durante el proceso preparé ese café que tanto nos gusta y lo serví junto a una pequeña porción de pastel para muchos puede ser un gesto sencillo y es así pero realmente estuvo lleno de cariño.
Y es que no solamente se trataba de pasar un tiempo juntos, sino también de endulzar el alma junto a estos aperitivos y recordar que el amor se construye con esos pequeños detalles y en la compañía silenciosa de una deliciosa taza de café y junto a la disposición y servicio de servir con amor y alegría.
Antes de continuar avanzando ustedes se preguntaran ¿ajá pero dónde está el papel de una crianza saludable? Bueno a nuestros pequeños hijos decidí darle su porción de pastel junto a un vaso de leche fría y mientras los observaba disfrutar pensé en lo realmente importante que es enseñarles que el amor también se expresa en la mesa en esos pequeños gestos en el saber escuchar y en el dedicar un espacio grato de calidad y lleno de hermosas distracciones.
Hoy el café fue más que una bebida, fue un hermoso recordatorio de que siempre necesitamos pequeños momentos y ocasiones para demostrarnos amor y que el servicio nace desde lo más profundo del corazón y este es un lenguaje universal que todos entendemos y que incluso no necesitan palabras.
Quizás el secreto está ahí, en esos pequeños rituales cotidianos que fortalecen los lazos y nos devuelven la esencia de lo que somos: familia, amor, compañía y fe.
