Last Thursday was the last of the treatments I will be getting (hopefully), so I guess this is the last on the series on Art in Hospitals.
And to think that I am getting used to it!

Art in hospitals research is a field that explores the role that art can play in the healing process1. Studies have shown that art can reduce stress, improve clinical outcomes, increase patient satisfaction, and support identity1, 2, 3. However, the type of art matters, as representational nature art is generally preferred over chaotic abstract art4. Art can also transform the physical and social environment of the hospital and create a positive impression3, 5.

I spent three hours in a tiny room with two works of art of
Clay Siebert

These two watercolor paintings reminded me of Napa Valley, which most likely it is, since Clay Seibert is a local artist who has been a resident of San Franciso since 1975.
Napa Valley has mild, rainy winters, and warm, dry summers typical of the Mediterranean region. Seibert captured its distinct character with its unique patchwork of soils!
The artist chose blues and deep blues to depict the mountains and the trees across the grapevines in the rolling hills.
As the most renowned wine region in America, Napa produces wines that are on par with some of the best Bordeaux and Burgundies.
I used to live 16 miles to Napa Valley, and my father's house was 30 miles away. Every time I had the chance, especially when I had guests visiting, I always brought them to Sonoma and then to Napa.
About the artist:
Clay Seibert (that first syllable is pronounced “SIGH” not “SEE”) earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Drawing and Painting as well as Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Studies from San Francisco State University, and continued studies in drawing and painting at UC Berkeley. He has done extensive plein air painting in the US and in Europe, and has taken courses and workshops in fine art and painting in France, Italy and Spain.
