The Morgan Silver Dollar has seen a lot of history!

The Morgan Dollar was first minted in 1878. It made the rounds in general stores, train stations, and saloons all the way through 1904. Then, it made a comeback in 1921. If there is a coin that feels like the Old West, this is it!

The Morgan Dollar is one of America's most favorite numismatic silver coins.

The modern Morgan Dollar and Peace Dollar were released simultaneously by the US Mint: the uncirculated coins on July 10 and the proof coins on September 11, 2025. Subscription holders get ours a few days earlier.

The coin is encapsulated and placed in a stylish clamshell within an elegant black presentation box 👆. The box is adorned with the official United States Mint seal; the outer sleeve incorporates an image of the obverse coin design. This high-quality coin is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity bearing an image of the obverse. Source

A description of the Morgan Silver Dollar is also included. Both the obverse and the reverse of the coin were designed by George T. Morgan (1845-1925).

This Morgan Silver Dollar proof coin was minted by the US Mint in San Francisco. The San Francisco Mint opened in 1854.

Mint Expands West In 1849, the California Gold Rush brought a flood of people west for the chance to get rich. Transporting the gold east all the way to the Philadelphia Mint was time-consuming and risky. In 1854, a branch Mint opened in San Francisco to convert the miners’ gold into coins. By the end of that year, the San Francisco Mint produced $4,084,207 in gold coins. Source

When Morgan designed the liberty on his Morgan silver dollar, it was actually inspired by a real living woman named Anna Willess Williams, who was a local school teacher in Philadelphia. George believed Anna was the perfect profile for the coin. Source

The eagle on the Morgan Dollar is a strong and confident figure! With its wings spread wide, like it's ready to take off. The arrows in one claw and an olive branch in the other are classic symbols of war and peace. I think that's the type of eagle we need today.
