This is my first time buying a random-year American Gold Eagle.
And I'm pretty excited to find out what year Apmex has sent me!
I like how Apmex sends orders. The package is neatly wrapped and the package is glued to the box. Then orders are sent in a nondescript box.
Random year coins typically come with lower premiums over the spot price. But additionally, I got this one on sale.
This is the current price for a 2025 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle: $435.29 or $461.78
This is the advertised price for a random-year 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle: $396.49 or $413.01
And this was how much I got this for: $384.50
Guess what? It is a 2021!!!
I lucked out again because the going price for a 2021 is $459.10!
New 2021 Gold Eagle Design
The United States Mint has unveiled the new reverse designs for the 2021 American Eagle Gold coins. 2021 marks the 35th Anniversary of the American Eagle Coin program, and the new designs began appearing on these coins in mid-year 2021.
Coin Highlights:
Contains 1/10 oz of fine gold.
First year of the historic redesign of the Gold Eagle, adding collectible value to these gold coins!
Multiples of 50 are packaged in U.S. Mint tubes. All other Gold Eagle coins will be in protective packaging.
Eligible for Precious Metals IRAs.
Obverse: Adapted from Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ famed Gold Double Eagle design, which features Lady Liberty with flowing hair, a torch in her right hand, and an olive branch in her left. The Type 2 design features added details from the original bronze cast to enhance this beloved design.
Reverse: a bold close-up portrait of an eagle, designed by Jennie Norris. This design is the first new design introduced since the series began in 1986.
