Porcini time! (Boletus edulis)

Hello hivers, an happy Monday to you all! I hope you spent a nice weekend and an happy start of a new working week. Yesterday was a wonderful Sunday for me, because finally I had enough free time to go in the wood to search porcini mushrooms (Boletus edulis) as I use to do every year since I was a little one!

I love to spend some hours in the wood, it's a wonderful way to clean my mind and when I come back at home from there, even if I'm a little tired, I feel myself so light.

The wood is also in my name, because the name Silvia came from the latin and it means forest, wood. The forest is that place where, as a child, I went to pick chestnuts and mushrooms with my family. Where I learned to recognize trees, plants, footprints, the soil, and yes, mushrooms! Thanks my dad, in the wood I learned to respect a place that has given so much to generations before us. The forest where life and death are one, that yes, in the forest there is the "real" life. I was learned a lot of things not thanks just empty words, but with the actions. I think words too often are meaningless.

This is that time of the year that porcini grow very fast and many people in my area got to search them, especially soon in the morning. I prefer to go there after the lunch (with my mom), when I can stay there in a quiet way. I perfectly know that, even after a lot of people there, I can always come back at home with some excellent mushrooms and you can see the final result of yesterday in the following pic:

Jut to know, here in my area (Tuscany, in Italy) we have some rules to pick the porcini mushrooms, for example we have to take just 2 kg of them every time we went in the wood and we have to place them in a wicker basket or a similar one where the spores can fall down along the walk.

While I was in the wood I also took some pics for you (I have always my phone with me, just in case me and my mom need it). The edible boletus can have different shades of colors from dark brown to light brown, it depends on the areas where you are searching for. My favorite ones are the dark brown that usually grown under the chestnut trees, but sure, I pick also the other edible ones. 😁
