Recently I received a used wooden table, which I transformed into a DIY coffee table. My idea was to turn it into a kind of living moodboard, a surface covered with different items I’ve collected over time, each holding personal meaning. I made a separate post all about the table’s transformation, in case you’d like to read it. But today I want to talk about just one of the pieces I included in this composition: a watercolor painting of a butterfly.
Ever since I decided that the table would become a moodboard, I knew I wanted it to feature a butterfly on top, and of course, it had to be one drawn by me. I chose the Monarch butterfly, a species I’ve always found beautiful, and decided to paint it even though I’m not very skilled at watercolor.
For someone who hadn’t picked up a brush in a long time and had almost forgotten the little I’d taught myself about watercolor technique, I actually think it turned out quite lovely and full of meaning for me. Above all, I’m proud that I gave it a try.
That’s what I wanted to share today. I hope you enjoy my watercolor. I’ve also included a few photos of it as part of the table’s composition.
See ya :)
