Hello, dearest friends!
How are you? Today, I want to introduce you to another beautiful place in Tuscany, a spot called Montegiovi, which is a hamlet in the municipality of Castel del Piano in the province of Grosseto. It’s a very scenic place, and you’ll be struck by its beauty as soon as you arrive.
This beautiful village is located on a hill, on part of Mount Amiata, giving you the chance to enjoy a panoramic view of the Val d’Orcia in Grosseto. In fact, it’s about 50 kilometers away from Grosseto.
The first "resident" I had the chance to meet was a beautiful cat. These villages are full of these wonderful animals, and many of them are strays that wander near the houses in search of food. From there, my walk began, and I could already admire the stunning view that can be enjoyed from this small village. I also stopped to observe the old washhouses, which were likely used long ago but are unfortunately now in disuse.
Continuing my walk, I was able to admire what probably remains of the ancient fortifications that surrounded the village since the 1100s—a sight that’s always impressive to see.
As I kept going, I came across some very narrow streets, the kind that people often have to squeeze through. But most of all, I stopped in front of the Church of San Martino, which, unfortunately, I couldn’t see from the inside because it was completely closed.
As my walk continued, I paused for a moment to observe the woods surrounding this place. These lands once belonged to the Bishop of Chiusi. I kept strolling through the village streets, practically not encountering anyone. When walking through places like these, you really feel a sense of complete relaxation.
I hope my photos can convey this sense of peace and tranquility that these places offer, where life moves very slowly but is truly made up of quality moments. I hope you can visit these places, too. I’ll see you in the next post, and I wish you all a great day!
