Why I Love My Saturdays
Liberal Latte is almost synonymous with my Saturdays these days. When @perennial told me about his idea of bringing live art to the audiences in Liberal Latte I was excited. I am okay as long as they don't force me to sing. I was told that I have a short 30 minutes to present and I cannot be doing realism painting during that short stint so I decided that I am going to do some live caricature and explain how I pick what to draw and what to concentrate on.
I told the audience that drawing pretty girls, I usually take longer because I want to 'observe' them longer. That is the only time I get to look at them and not feel like a stalker. The more attention I give, the more my subject feels I am making their money worth every bit. So I make sure they get their fair bargain.
I also told them that when it comes to guys, it is usually a very quick sketch. First, no matter how good looking that guy is, I am a bit more keen on my next female subject. If that guy is not that good looking, it is easy to pick on his features and still make the caricature look extremely life like.
Picking My Victims
Usually I choose my subjects. They are chosen because it could be their big day or they have good features than I can reduce as part of my art. The first subject is a birthday girl, so she was a definite target.
Then the second candidate is Hajar, the soon to be partner of Dr. Helmi, the owner of Liberal Latte. She is flying off to London to continue her education.
Then the thorn amongst the roses. The only man who made it to be picked for my demo. He is one of the most sporting subject I have come across. I asked him...
Can I make you look evil?
Can I make you look like Osama bin Laden?
Can I make you look interesting but with a lot of exaggeration?
He answered yes to all and he was so happy with the final result that he kept thanking me relentlessly.
I did some explanation on the art of caricature. Noone can fault you for minor mistakes because it isn't realism. The more cartoony the character is, the more it is appreciated.
The Music
This guy is simply amazing. I am not a good judge on telling how good he is but he has good reach, even at high notes. Hear him out if you don't believe me. He is so happy singing that he wanted to go after his 3rd song. Unfortunately @perennial has to stop him short.
The Special Request
Amongst the audience that came are people who are unfamiliar with steemit and the steem blockchain. There was a special request and @perennial took the task and did his thing. He answered how the reward pool would be shared amongst the contributors. How the witnesses are awarded in running their witness nodes. He also gave a brief explanation on how the blockchain works.
All I can say is every time there is a steem-music event, it is a different kinda euphoria. If I can sum this up, what #steem-music has done is to change something which is boring to be something that is both engaging and informative.
