Greetings in this month of October, when in some parts of the planet, at certain times of the day or night, temperatures begin to drop, there are variations in the weather, and respiratory illnesses such as the flu and colds become more common. With this in mind, today I want to share with you a simple natural remedy to soothe coughs and speed up the healing process of these respiratory illnesses.

The healing properties of onions are well known. From their benefits in regulating triglycerides and cholesterol, to their antibiotic properties, their contribution of vitamins and microelements, their power as an expectorant, etc.—topics we won't cover in this post, as there's a vast online bibliography where that information can be found—what we will discuss today is how to use them in a different way to soothe a cough.

I will explain this simple natural medicine or technique:
+ Take a white or yellow onion. No matter the size, any one you have will work. If you have a red onion, it will also work, but it's a little less effective.

+ Cut the onion in half.

+ Place one of the halves with the split surface facing down on a small, flat plate, to which a small amount of clean, room-temperature water, approximately 30 ml, has been added.

+ Place this half onion on the plate next to the bed, near where the person with the cough is. The onion gradually releases vapors that will help soothe the cough while disinfecting the environment.

+ Leave the plate with the onion overnight, or all day, and after this time, remove and discard the onion in the trash. DO NOT REUSE THAT ONION. Rinse and wash the plate. It is recommended to use this plate only for those purposes, not for eating.

+ You can save the other half to use the next day, although it is advisable to use both parts to speed up healing.

Here I end my post today, in which I have shared a simple natural and homemade medicine or technique to reduce cough. I say goodbye, wishing you good health and well-being and remember: Not all days are the same and more importantly: Everything you give, everything you do, will inexorably return to you. Hugs!
