The Lord Jesus Christ said that it was not so from the beginning. He said this while answering the Pharisees. They were asking him about an issue that related to polygamy. He answered them that it was not so from the beginning. So, at the beginning, God created one woman for one man. God never intended that there should be polygamy.
The problem of man is his flesh. We are controlled by our flesh that is why we often arise to walk against what is God’s will. The flesh always wars against the spirit. The flesh will never want to do something that complies with the purpose of God. At one time, Paul the apostle cried out that there is a force that is warring in his members to hinder him from doing those things which God wants him to do.
When we consider this we will understand why there is perversion in the moral principles of men. God did not design that we should marry multiple wives and husbands. It was not God’s plan. We turn against the plan of God by desiring that. If we could remember, all those that God entered into a covenant with, they did not practice polygamy. Abraham did not practice polygamy. Moses did not practice polygamy. Noah did not practice polygamy. So, polygamy is not allowed by God. Let us train our hearts to obey the commandments of God totally.
