This summer I went to Hertforshire and rented a cottage in Much Hadham and walked to Perry Green to see the Henry Moore Studios and Gardens.

After I rented the Airbnb I messaged the lady asking how I might get from the Airbnb to Henry Moore's Studios and Gardens. Here is her answer:
To get to Henry Moore you can either drive or walk across local bridleways that takes about 20 minutes. We do it on a regular basis in the summer with our 4 year old and the views are beautiful.
It sounded magical- Rent a cottage and walk the bridleways, even though I was not sure what a bridleway was. (I looked it up, it is a path for horses. Being from the city I have not been around horses much.)
On July 18th I took a train and bus from London to Much Hadham and plugged the address of the studios and gardens in my google maps. It about 1.5 miles, I headed off with my 20+ pound backpack feeling very grateful for where there was shade along the way.

Getting from the Airbnb to Perry Green was easy enough that on the second day I decided to go another way.
Opps.
I go so lost. It started out great. I was seeing new things.
Here I am happy in a wheatfield. There were signs saying I was on a public footpath. Good sign.

Then I realized that I was in a sheep field.
Which was quite exciting since Henry Moore had sheep and drew them often. When I looked to my left I realized that I was in Henry Moore's sheep farm, Large Reclining Figure was on the hill.

It was a beautiful summer day, even a little hot. The clouds were beautiful as I attempted to exit the field. It was fenced in.
I had to jump the fence and then went the direction I thought was correct. I didn't have cell phone service. I was so blessed that a family- Mom dad, with two teenage children were out walking. I asked them if I was going toward Much Hadham. They said no, and advised me to go to the gate and follow the forest back to town. Wow. They were the only people I saw in the hour I was out walking around. It should have taken 20 minutes.
This nice family pointed me in the right direction and helped me cool down by going in the forest.

When I got closer to town it go even prettier.
When I got to the road I got cell phone service again and realized I was pretty close to the airbnb.
What a walk! It was beautiful most of the time. I am so glad I could walk through rual England. I was a little nervous when I got lost, it was still light so I was confident I could find my Airbnb before dark so I didn't worry too much and I made it back.
