Wednesday Walk - Busy Bees

Here are a few shots from a garden I walked to with my daughter for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay 1000001341.jpg I found a Red-spotted purple. Its wings were a bit battered from a storm earlier. 1000001340.jpg Thankfully I was able to get close and take shots of it. I suspect it will reenergize after sucking some nectar and still be flying around after this storm.

1000001331.jpg Here is a strange character called a Ailanthus Webworm Moth. They are quite small and very colorful. It kind of looks like a beetle when landed and a wasp when flying, probably to throw predators off from eating it.

1000001339.jpg Now for an interesting work of art by a bagworm.

1000001337.jpg And another one right on the same branch. Some of these bagworm nests can get quite elaborate based on what materials they have to work with.

1000001334.jpg Now for some bumblebees on a cone flower aka echinacea. 1000001330.jpg These guys are easy to take photos of because they are quite blind.

1000001332.jpg They can only see a few inches around themselves hence their name bumblebee.

1000001335.jpg They usually are crashing around bumping into things until they find something good to eat.

1000001336.jpg Now for some busy honey bees.

1000001338.jpg I wonder if these guys are going to a bee box or if they have a nest somewhere in the hollow of a tree. Either way I try and get local honey so I can build up my resistance to local allergies.

That's all for now, thanks for looking. Keep your eyes on the flowers on your walks.
