Need I Say Door, Episode 4 dump some data about Chris past that I didnt know about, probably stuff from season 1 but I think I have an idea of where this is leading to and how its going to connect with the current DCEU. The opening scene with young Chris and that alien thing getting killed by his dad was brutal as hell for a kid that young and I appreciate getting some backstory on how Auggie got his hands on that quantum portal thing, I always thought it was him who invented, we are four episodes in and now it feels like the series is starting to finally lift off the ground, this episode really make the first one look stupid with the drug abuse and orgy, totally necessary and this episodes feels more like the route they should have taken in the first place instead of trying to play the fucked up depress Chris, not sure why writers thought it would be a good start for the season. The whole vibe at start of the season felt scattered, like everyone's doing their own thing instead of working together but for sure this episode felt way better. Auggie never actually invented any of that high tech crap I thought he did, turns out he just murdered some poor alien dude and stole his stuff, which honestly makes way more sense because there is no way that racist asshole could have built something that advanced on his own, Im sure he probably went into other worlds too and start stealing tech.

John Economos was definitely the best part of this whole episode, no question about it, the guy is loyal to the core, watching him try to send Chris that gibberish warning text while sitting in the back of that van was kinda funny while they were throwing sht at each other and then him saving Eagley from that psycho Wild was perfect, the Supreme Eagle that would like bs ends up been real. The guy is proving to be a real friend while Harcourt is out here making deals with Rick Flag Senior behind Chris back, which honestly hurt to watch and I wouldnt blame Chris for wanting to go life in another dimension where he get some love back. Steve Agee just brings this genuine warmth to Economos that makes you root for him even when he's being weird, and his whole backstory about hacking the CIA at 14 explains why he's so socially awkward. The dude never had a normal childhood, got recruited straight into spy work as a kid, so of course he's going to be messed up. When he spits right in Flurry's face after all that arguing in the van, I was cheering, because Flurry had it coming after being such a dick this whole time.

Speaking of St. Wild, this dude has completely lost his mind over Eagley and now apparently he has some kind of powers too, what the fuck is that about, where does this powers come from, is he like a Shaman or something? if superhero theme series were already fantasy this is way crazy so you just have to let it flow and dont think too hard about it. Michael Rooker is having way too much fun with this character, doing that whole cultural appropriation thing where he is mixing up different Native American traditions to justify his eagle obsession but then the show goes and validates his crazy ass by giving him actual mystical abilities. The whole astral projection thing at the end was wild, drawing that eagle symbol with his own blood and then being able to track Eagley's location through some spiritual third eye bullshit, reminds me an animated series from the 90s with a Native Sherif who had similar powers but cant remember its name. It's funny but also kind of problematic that the show is saying his appropriation actually works, though I guess they're setting it up so it backfires on him later, at least I hope so.

The hole time they went after Chris and Eagly, from the moment they go into Chris house that made the entire episode and even the entire ARGUS team look more as a unit and way more hilarious too, this was really satisfying because normally you dont have both on the same scene, how they all keep this awkward but funny conversation on the way to Chris house between Bordeaux, Fleury and Economos calling themself names, even Judomaster was funny and less annoying, I honestly hat that character every time comes to screen but didnt this time. Taking about Judomaster I just love the way Chris crush him while they were running after him, that scene where they go rolling down that hill and landing on top of him was pretty funny though, classic Chris using his bulk as a weapon.
As I mention above my biggest issue though is how scattered everyone feels at the beginning of this season. Adebayo and Adrian are basically just hanging around doing nothing important and that really sucks because Danielle Brooks deserves way better material than talking about Pro Soldier magazines and her wife drama that goes nowhere, that is like two espidoes behind and they havent even mention it anymore. Her whole security consulting business subplot feels like filler, especially when we find out the magazine is a total scam with only 12 readers who are probably, it was a bit funny but I think they just killed that security consulting business right there. Chris obsessing over this other dimension is interesting but it feels like a one trick situation because if they want to connect the series to the new DECU of James Gunn they actually can made up a story that matches with the actual situation from the movies and TV series, just like in the MCU another dimension, it might move slow if they dont just rush the entire transition but other dimension subplots are always intriguing but need to pay off. It does look like the series is putting back the team together and there still left four more episodes, well I havent seen episode 5 yet but it does look like the series has enough time to turn things around and make the series fell more even and fun as this episode was. Rick Flag Senior manipulating Harcourt into betraying Chris is predictable but well executed, you can see how desperate she is to get her career back after being blacklisted by Amanda Waller, but it sucks she was willing to turn in Chris.
