Malang Creative Center, also known as MCC, is a fairly large multipurpose building located at Malang City, Indonesia. This library has 8 floors and kinda remain me of the national library in JKT, but on a smaller scale. When I first visited this place, I have no idea if it’s a multi-purpose building. I thought the building just have the library as their main feature. However, it turns out there are many useful room inside this building.

Malang Creative Center is a place for people from creative industry Malang to collaborate and grow together. Its official website states that MCC plays a vital role in encouraging equitable growth in every creative economy sector, encompassing 17 sub-sectors of the creative economy: architecture, film, photography, crafts, culinary arts, fine arts, products, applications, games, television and radio, fashion, performances, interior design, advertising, publications, DKV, and music, while still maintaining cultural heritage.

It's no surprise that when I visited MCC, as I passed through the other floors, there were many people either just hanging out, or groups of teenagers practicing dancing (or maybe gymnastics). But it really seemed like the place was completely free for public to use for any activities.

I can’t remember this library being on the 5th or 6th floor. Judging by the videos people posted on the social media of this library, I thought it would be quite large with several rooms or something. But it turned out to be quite small, yet looked really cute. To enter the library, all I had to do was fill out a check-in form, and then put my belongings in the locker. I didn’t manage to take a photo, but there are also two computers available for visitors to use.

In one corner, there’s this cozy seating area. The book collection is not much, so I bet most people come to study or work. The space is made of wood material, and we had to take off our shoes when entering this specific corner. With a few different seating style, this corner also has enough power outlets, making it very convenient for visitors.

In another corner, it’s more like a co-working space. They provide individual and group desks. I was surprised that they use this kind of office chairs for each table, as I don’t think I’ve ever found a free co-working space that provides chairs like this in my city haha. The chairs definitely adds more comfortable to working in that area. And the individual desks are face the windows, so we can see the view outside.

I really enjoyed my time at this mini library. MCC's tagline is "Creative Culture Ambience" which aims to create a creative cultural environment that reflects identity of Malang City and hope its presence will be a facility that supports all sub-sectors within the creative industry and become a key driver in the development of the creative economy in Malang City.

I’m glad that they have a building like this where people from various creative industry sectors can come and collaborate together. Even the mini library feels like a cozy space for many people to spend their time productively. That concludes my Library Trip, hopefully I can continue on the next one haha.
