Place that transform the parts of history into the present experience.
This area is probably my favourite route for cycling in my hometown. Especially after being revitalized, Old Town area become more lively and interesting enough to visit. On a slow sunday morning, I cycled around just to feel the atmosphere there. Honestly, even before I reached the old town area, there are several old buildings that intrigued me. This one below was one of them. I personally had no idea this building existed at all, even though this wasn’t the first time I’d passed that route. It said to be the Nusantara Plantation Office and I just wondered what’s behind those windows.
Another interesting piece of architecture is this small space, as you can see below. It’s located at the top of a fairly high wall, and I'm not sure what's exactly on the other side, as it looks like there are some trees. Perhaps the little space is like a small security post, but what’s it for? I don’t even know, or maybe it's just for the birds to take shelter from the rain haha who knows🤣
Anyway, I finally reached the old town area. There was a marathon going on as well, so I saw many people running along the side of the road. And some people were also playing musical instruments and singing along to cheer on the participants as they passed on their way to the finish line. It was very lively. There's something special about going out on a sunday morning and just watching people doing what they love.
The Old Town area has become a gathering place for people with of all age and background spend their time doing activities they’re interested in such as cycling, jogging, or even just sitting in a corner enjoying the fresh morning air. I usually explore around the alleys too, but that sunday I left after a few walks around the park area. There are several cafes in some of the alleys where some people choose to spend their time if the park area gets a bit too crowded. Cycling around this area is always enjoyable for me because the atmosphere feels like it connects the past with the present beautifully as the various cultural elements that are still preserved.
Thanks for reading, hivers :) how's your cycling experience recently?
