A mosque that conveys religious meaning with its six domes. This mosque is named Masjid Agung Baiturrahmah Sukoharjo (Baiturrahmah Grand Mosque Sukoharjo). A large mosque in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, Indonesia is also included as one of the religious tourism destinations for many residents.
A mosque is not just a place of worship, especially for me. As a driver who takes passengers to various destinations, I also use the mosque as a place to rest.
A magnificent mosque located on the side of a large road caught my attention. I happened to be driving past Jalan Slamet Riyadi. The passengers I brought also agreed to stop at this mosque. So I stopped at this place to worship and rest.
In the parking area there is a small shady garden to reduce the heat of the sun so that parked vehicles are not too hot.
Then I walked to the front area to be able to photograph the entire front view of the mosque from the side of the road. The red nameplate Masjid Agung Baiturrahmah Sukoharjo (Baiturrahmah Grand Mosque Sukoharjo) blends beautifully with the neatly arranged plants around it.
The Baiturrahmah Grand Mosque in Sukoharjo has six Towers which according to a mosque guard have the meaning of the six pillars of faith for Muslims. 2 domes on the main part while the remaining 4 domes surround it.
Seen from afar, the main dome of the mosque is green with detailed yellow motifs. There is also orange for some color details on the mosque building.
The front area of the mosque near the steps is decorated with palm trees and others that are the same color as the overall tone of the mosque.
The Baiturrahmah Grand Mosque in Sukoharjo looks amazing to me with its cool architectural design, especially on the entire front of the mosque. The right and left sides and the middle have curved niches inward. The air vents in the mosque building use distinctive motif details.
Meanwhile, the curved niches in the middle function as light filtration windows that use beautiful, colorful stained glass. There are detailed flower motifs in the middle of the glass vertically.
Entering I stepped into the middle of the mosque like the veranda of the mosque, not yet entering the main area of the mosque. There are many shiny pillars made of marble with a very smooth surface with natural vein motifs.
*From this inner area, the stained glass looks even more beautiful with a contrasting flower motif in the middle. *
The middle of the mosque is also used for worship when there are many visitors because the floor is covered with a soft carpet.
In the inner area, the main dome looks towering. The pillars on the inside are still the same as the pillars on the outside.
Then with golden ornaments on the inside of the dome. Then it is also surrounded by air vents.
The splendor of the dome is always accompanied by the addition of the main hanging lamp on the dome which is usually an attraction for tourists visiting the mosque.
It turned out that I just realized that this mosque is wider than I expected. When I went around there were also several places in the area next to the mosque and the upper floor of the mosque.
According to the mosque guard I met, the upper floor of the mosque can be used to stay for religious leaders who are traveling far or people who are studying religion.
So indeed The Great Mosque of Baiturrahmah Sukoharjo is expected to function well for religious activities and not only for prayer but also as a facility for studying.
In the yard, there are many doves like the scenery in the area of mosques in Medina and Mecca that I have seen online.
The sight of birds flying in all directions of the mosque can entertain the heart and make visitors to the mosque smile.
So happy I am to be able to stop by, worship and also enjoy The Great Mosque of Baiturrahmah Sukoharjo as a recommended religious tourism spot.
