My name is Carlos. I am very happy to be in this Hive Community and to be able to share some of my life with you and everything that I like: cinema, photography, music...
I was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1969 and I am 54 years old. I have lived in Madrid all my life. My city is known for being welcoming, both for tourism and for living in it. In fact, it is difficult to find someone whose parents and grandparents are not from Madrid. Madrileños of several generations are called "gatos". Currently, it is easy to find a wide cultural offer in Madrid: museums, exhibitions (painting, photography, street art...), cultural centers (where you can take courses and workshops on different subjects), cinemas, theaters, musicals, dance, concerts... Once a year an international photography contest called PhotoEspaña is held, where both large exhibition halls and small art galleries showcase classic photography to contemporary photographers for several months. The city of Madrid itself is already a varied photographic setting because of its people, cultural diversity, streets, buildings, parks…
Me llamo Carlos. Estoy muy feliz de estar en esta Comunidad Hive y poder compartir con vosotros algo de mi vida y todo lo que me gusta: cine, fotografía, música...
Nací en Madrid, España, en 1.969 y tengo 54 años. Toda mi vida he residido en Madrid. Mi ciudad tiene fama de acogedora, tanto para visitarla de turismo como para quedarse en ella a vivir. De hecho, es difícil encontrar a alguien que sus padres y abuelos, sean de Madrid. A los madrileños de varias generaciones se los llama “gatos”.
En la actualidad es sencillo encontrar en Madrid amplia oferta cultural: museos, exposiciones (pintura, fotografía, arte urbano…), centros culturales (donde se pueden hacer cursos y talleres de diferentes materias), cines, teatros, musicales, danza, conciertos… Una vez al año se celebra un certamen de fotografía internacional que se llama PhotoEspaña en el que, tanto grandes salas de exposiciones como pequeñas galerías de arte, exhiben desde fotografía clásica a fotógrafos contemporáneos durante varios meses. La propia ciudad de Madrid es ya un escenario fotográfico variado por su gente, su variedad cultural, sus calles, edificios, parques…

My family, to which I am strongly connected, has always been involved with the world of culture, specifically with the world of film (and theater) and photography, from directing, acting, writing film books, teaching, organizing film festivals... so from a very young age the world of culture has been very present and accessible to me: books and music at home, I frequently went to the cinema, museums, and I was a fortunate child who was given a camera and introduced, in a childish way, to photography. So I have to be very grateful to my family for being able to have access to all of that.
Another of my passions that has always accompanied me has been music: Jazz, Soul, Blues, music from the 50s, 60s, 70s... and for several years I have been a DJ at nightclubs. A regular at concerts, festivals... music from the 60s, especially, is my main reference.
Mi familia, a la que estoy fuertemente unido, ha estado de siempre relacionada con el mundo de la cultura, concretamente al mundo del cine (y el teatro) y la fotografía, desde la dirección, la interpretación, la escritura de libros de cine, la enseñanza, la organización de festivales de cine… así que desde muy pequeño el mundo de la cultura ha estado muy presente y accesible a mis manos: libros y música en casa, iba al cine frecuentemente, a museos, y fui un niño afortunado al que regalaron una cámara fotográfica e iniciarme, de manera infantil en la fotografía. Así que tengo que estar muy agradecido a mi familia el que pudiera tener acceso a todo ello.
Otra de mis pasiones y que me ha acompañado siempre ha sido la música: Jazz, Soul, Blues, música de los años 50, 60, 70… y durante varios años he sido dj en locales nocturnos. Asiduo de conciertos, festivales… la música de los 60, sobre todo, es mi referente principal.

I studied Philosophy and Literature driven by my curiosity in many subjects: art, philosophy, literature, history, anthropology, film, photography, psychology... and also film scriptwriting courses. Years ago, I wrote scripts for short films and television series. Sound technician in radio, although I never dedicated myself professionally to it, but I did collaborate on music programs on local stations.
Estudie Filosofía y Letras llevado por mi curiosidad en muchas materias: arte, filosofía, literatura, historia, antropología, cine, fotografía, psicología… y también cursos de guion de cine. He escrito, hace años, guiones de cortometrajes y series de televisión. Técnico de sonido en radio, aunque nunca me dediqué profesionalmente a ello, pero sí colaboré en programas de música en emisoras locales.

To this day, I combine my job with photography and digital editing jobs: portrait, books, landscape, architecture, fashion... I try to keep up with the latest trends, with more current photographers but without losing sight of the classic references that have stood out as the best in History in each photographic genre such as portrait, architecture, landscape, fashion, nude, street photography... I work with both color and black and white, but I prefer black and white because it evokes classic photography in this digital world and because black and white breaks reality by leaning more towards abstraction. I work on both outdoor and indoor sessions, and in recent times, I have worked with acting students or young actors and actresses, and sometimes I work and collaborate with a professional photography studio.
A día de hoy, compagino mi trabajo con trabajos de fotografía y edición digital: retrato, books, paisaje, arquitectura, moda… Intento estar al tanto de las últimas tendencias, de fotógrafos más actuales pero sin perder de vista a los referentes clásicos que en cada género fotográfico han destacado como los mejores de la Historia en retrato, arquitectura, paisaje, moda, desnudo, fotografía de calle…Trabajo tanto el color como el blanco y negro, pero preferentemente prefiero el blanco y negro porque me evoca la fotografía clásica en este mundo digital y porque con el blanco y negro se rompe la realidad al tender más a la abstracción. Trabajo tanto sesiones en exterior como en interior y estudio y en los últimos tiempos he trabajado con estudiantes de interpretación o jóvenes actores y actrices y en ocasiones trabajo y colaboro para un estudio profesional de fotografía.

Without completely abandoning my interest in Philosophy, I have written a study in which I combine architectural photography with the photographic object itself from a philosophical point of view without forgetting the technical part of the photographic equipment required for architectural photography. In the study, I start from the photographic composition according to the canon of the golden ratio to encompass the photographic object itself, as an object that is in itself and already independent of "objective reality." As an example to illustrate this small study, which does not reach the category of an essay, I used the architectural object and architectural photography as such.
Sin abandonar totalmente mi interés por la Filosofía he escrito un estudio en el que combino la fotografía de arquitectura con el objeto fotográfico mismo desde un punto de vista filosófico sin olvidar la parte técnica del equipo fotográfico que requiere la fotografía de arquitectura. En el estudio parto de la composición fotográfica según el canon de la sección aurea para abarcar al objeto mismo fotográfico, como un objeto que es en sí mismo y ya independiente de la “realidad objetiva”. Como ejemplo para ilustrar este pequeño estudio, que no llega a la categoría del ensayo, me servía del objeto arquitectónico y de la fotografía de arquitectura como tal.

And what has brought me to Hive? The reason for joining the Hive community, where I have been for a few weeks and have not yet posted anything, is to be able to spread, above all, my photographic activity and to be in contact and share with other people from anywhere in the world who share the same interests because we always learn from others. And although photography is currently what interests me the most, I would also like to contribute a post on movies or music. Thank you and greetings to the entire Hive community.

¿Y qué me ha traído hasta Hive? La razón de unirme a la comunidad de Hive, en la que llevo pocas semanas y aún no he subido ningún post es la de poder difundir, sobre todo, mi actividad fotográfica y poder estar en contacto y compartir con otras personas de cualquier parte del mundo que tengan las mismas inquietudes porque siempre se aprende de los demás. Y aunque es la fotografía lo que a día de hoy centra más mi interés, sí me gustaría también poder aportar algún post de cine o música. Gracias y un saludo a toda la comunidad de Hive.
