Something I have always wanted to do is visit a corn maze. Since moving to Virginia we have yet to explore many of the outdoor attractions. But figured a corn maze would be a great place to check out while they last. As Halloween approaches soon they will harvest these mazes and they will be gone, back to fields. But for a short time you can visit one and pay an entrance fee to go walk through them.

We found a place called Yoders Farm, they offered for $11 for adults to walk through the maze. So we drove out there to check it out.

The one we visited had two mazes, but we only walked through one part. Upon reaching the farm where the corn maze was. We could see the tall corn plants lining the property. With many acres filled with corn we were really looking forward to walking through them.

Lol I liked how they had to put up a sign saying "Please don't bring in weapons into the corn maze". I guess they had an "incident" at some point.. lol

It was a little windy when we entered the maze, honestly it added an effect to it hearing the corn stalks move around. Giving the whole feeling a bit of an eaery feeling.

I think there is an app you can download to track your progress through the maze. These signs are probably for that.

These are some tall stalks of corn probably a good eight feet tall. Much taller than me... lol

We kept finding some weeds growing along the paths, so we used a plant ID tool to ID it.. Appears to be some kind of nettle.

Walking through the maze we ran into dead ends a couple times. But I think we got lucky and mostly found the paths that led us through the maze pretty well.

Corn was still on the plants, so looks like they will harvest these soon. Not sure what kind of corn it is.. maybe animal feed corn or maybe corn for people.

Appears animals do eat them, we kept seeing half eaten corn. Sorry about my finger.. lol

It was still pretty early in the morning, so we had cover from the sun mostly along the path.

Eventually we found the exit, we had the option to explore the second half but I decided to just head out from there.

That was a lot of fun, I hear you can go through these places at night for a more spooky feeling.

The exit path from the maze was quite long.. Cool seeing that cut through the fields.

I exited the maze and headed out to see the rest of the farm.

Looks like they grow pumpkins too.

Such a classic country dirt road.. love it.

They had some farm animals too.. A few goats, cows, chicken and a rabbit. So that was cool.
I had a lot of fun exploring the corn maze and seeing the rest of the farm. Not sure if I am going to visit them again. Probably seen one I have seen them all.. lol But it was pretty cool and as soon as you entered the maze the feeling of being alone was quite strong. So go with someone else unless you are brave enough. As getting lost in a corn maze is better with two people and not one.. lol I hear you can call the farm if you get lost inside and they will come and find you. But luckily I did not need their help finding my way out on the paths. But I guess some do.
Maybe at night time its much easier to get lost, that could be an interesting visit in the future honestly. It would probably change the feeling of the place quite a bit walking through at night.
Maybe one day I will try the night time corn maze walk.
