En esta publicación quiero compartir con ustedes un recorrido visual por la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes, ubicada en el barrio Las Mercedes de Villa de Cura, Estado Aragua. Este templo representa una parte importante de nuestra identidad local, no solo por su arquitectura, sino por la historia que guarda y el papel que ha tenido en la vida espiritual de la comunidad.

La iglesia fue construida a principios del siglo XX, cuando los vecinos del sector sintieron la necesidad de tener un espacio para la oración y las celebraciones religiosas. Con esfuerzo, fe y colaboración, levantaron una capilla sencilla de bahareque, que con el tiempo fue creciendo y transformándose en el templo que conocemos hoy.
La estructura actual destaca por sus dos torres con cúpulas, columnas en la entrada, techo de tejas y jardines laterales con caminerías y una gruta dedicada a la Virgen. Es un lugar que invita al recogimiento, a la reflexión y al encuentro con nuestras raíces.
Cada 24 de septiembre, se celebra el día de la Virgen de las Mercedes, patrona de los cautivos. Es una fecha muy especial para el barrio y para toda Villa de Cura. Ese día se realizan misas, procesiones, cantos y actividades que reúnen a la comunidad en un ambiente de fe y alegría. Es una tradición que se mantiene viva gracias al compromiso de los vecinos y al amor por su Virgen.
Actualmente, la iglesia se encuentra activa y en funcionamiento, ofreciendo espacios para la oración, la celebración de la eucaristía y otras actividades religiosas que fortalecen el tejido espiritual de nuestra comunidad.
Este video busca resaltar ese valor histórico y espiritual que tiene la iglesia para todos los villacuranos. Espero que lo disfruten y que sirva para seguir compartiendo lo nuestro con orgullo, respeto y cariño.
