Ayer mi marido cumplió 70 años y no pude estar a su lado. Él vive en Caracas, por cuestiones laborales; yo vivo en Carúpano, por cuestiones familiares.

A veces lo laboral y lo familiar no se la llevan bien. Los trabajos nos alejan de las familias; y a veces las familias nos limitan para trabajar. Así llevamos 7 años. La distancia física nos ha conectado más espiritualmente, creo que eso se debe a cuestiones de la edad, y también a los propósitos de vida.

Lo cierto es que hoy mi marido @acostacazorla me llamó para decirme que él se iba a dar un regalo: Venir a pasar tres días conmigo. Este es un regalo costoso, porque implica: taxi al terminal (15$), pasaje de Caracas a Carúpano (20$) más el pasaje de regreso (20$). En total son 55$ solo en pasaje. Sin embargo, la vida es tan breve, que a veces vale la pena olvidar lo cuantitativo para centrarnos más en lo cualitativo. Es decir, darle prioridad a los encuentros afectivos.

Este viaje no fue planificado, surgió de manera espontánea. Y la emoción que siento por el encuentro despertó en mis ojos el brillo de la juventud. Qué bueno es sentir amor por nuestra pareja, aunque haya 30 años de convivencia.

Yesterday my husband turned 70 and I couldn't be with him. He lives in Caracas for work; I live in Carúpano for family reasons.
Sometimes work and family don't mix well. Jobs take us away from our families; and sometimes families limit our work. We've been like this for 7 years. The physical distance has connected us more spiritually; I think that's due to age, and also to our life goals.
The truth is that today my husband @acostacazorla called me to tell me he was going to give himself a gift: to come and spend three days with me. This is an expensive gift, because it involves: a taxi to the bus terminal ($15), a bus ticket from Caracas to Carúpano ($20), plus the return ticket ($20). In total, it's $55 just for transportation. However, life is so short that sometimes it's worth forgetting the quantitative aspects and focusing more on the qualitative. That is, to prioritize affectionate encounters.

This trip wasn't planned; it arose spontaneously. And the emotion I feel for the encounter awakened the sparkle of youth in my eyes. How wonderful it is to feel love for our partner, even after 30 years of living together.
