The problem of not building capacity before having to take a leadership role is alarming these days, as a lot of people have actually made things worse.
Image Before anyone takes any leadership role, it is very pertinent that he or she builds capacity for it. Let us shift from giving leadership roles to people because they are available to giving them these roles because they are actually leaders.
It is very bad to see that even nature, apart from the people you are leading, would question your capacity as a leader.
Leadership, for me, is the ability to stand in a gap between the people and a particular destination. You can take people to where you do not know; you need to know where you are going before people can follow you.
There are some leaders who have lost their essence and just occupy a certain position, without knowing that another person could be leading his followers unknowingly. If you know where you are going and understand how to get there, then it will not be hard for people to follow you.
A leader is usually the head, and no one can be taller than his head, so this means that if a leader fails to be ahead of his followers, then he will start losing their followership.
As a leader grows, his subjects grow too, but when he stops growing, the subjects may have no choice but to shift their loyalty to someone who is growing because, whether we like it or not, every man wants to move from one stage to the other, growing; every man wants knowledge, so they seek for it everywhere.
As a leader, do not be found wanting.
