When I first heard of the Jardin de Señorita Mountain Resort in Sitio Bacoco, Brgy. Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao Del Sur, I wasn't really sure what to expect. But once I reached the place, I understood that what I'd be having was one really memorable experience. Fresh mountain air meets beautiful views to wow me right from the start. The whole experience would make me forget that I was in a resort surrounded by green towering pine trees; it is as if heaven has placed its foot in the mountains.
First Impressions
The entrance to Jardin de Señorita is simple yet inviting. The gateway has a colorful sign promising fun and relaxation. Once I entered, I got wrung with:
around me surrounded was greenery, flowers, and man-remapped heaven.
The Scenic Views
One thing that I was sure to catch as my eyes scanned the vicinity was the awesome view of the surrounding mountains and the whole blanket of farmlands. On the viewing deck, one can see the perfectly terraced fields and rolling hills going to infinity. It was so peaceful, the rush of cool, quiet air and the stillness erased everything that is noise and stress from the bustling world.
What amazed me most were the flowers and plants that dotted the resort. The surrounding green landscape was alive with bright splashes of color from vibrant blooms. I even saw a few butterflies fluttering through the magical air.
The Activities
Jardin de Señorita is more than just a relaxing vacation place. It speaks especially to those embattled in outdoor activities. Some people come here just for the hiking, for the biking, or walk for miles around this area. It's also a terrific place to go and take pictures-surely almost every corner looks like a postcard shot.
For the persons who would rather chill, cozy seating areas will be available for enjoying the views for jostling coffee drinkers. I spent some time here sipping coffee and absorbing the beauty of nature. It felt like time slowed down, and I could really be there for the moment.
The Viewing Deck
The view deck is one of the favorites of the resort. It gives me the panoramic view of the mountains and the farms around it. It is very simple as a structure but offers one fine vantage point compared to other places. I spent quite a while there taking in the whole scenery. It is that kind of place where you can feel small but in a good way, as if you were part of something much larger.
A Quiet Escape
Jardin de Señorita is very special, and the only thing that makes it special is in the peace and quiet that it brings. All that you can only hear are nature's sounds, the rustling of leaves, the chirping of birds, and the occasional breeze, for the resort is isolated from the busy streets. It is a nice place to unwind and get renewed.
I later found out that this area was part of Kapatagan, which is famous for its cool climate and rich natural scenery. The weather is just perfect here-cool but not cold, just so right for escaping the ill effects of heat in the lower lands.
The Local Charm
Another thing I appreciate about Jardin de Señorita is it has a local touch. The staff and locals are very welcoming and kind. They shared stories about the area and tips about what to explore. I even learned some folk tales surrounding the mountains that made the place a bit mysterious.
Even the resort supports local farmers and artisans, proven by the fresh produce and locally sourced products available in it. It is nice to see such a place that stands for the community and its traditions.
A Great Place for Family and Friends
Jardin de Señorita is no escape from lonely travelers like me but rather a perfect getaway for families and groups of friends. There are picnic spots where you can gather for meals, and the open spaces are wide enough to allow children to run and frolic in the park with other kids. Whether you want something adventurous or just leisure, it got something for everyone.
How To Reach There
Take a bus or a van from Davao City to Digos City (1.5-2 hours). Habal-habal or jeepney to Barangay Kapatagan would be around an hour away since that is where Digos takes you to. Most habal-habal drivers know the location, but you can also use Google Maps or Waze. Pan-Philippine Highway to Digos and then Kapatagan is the route if you're driving. It's paved but winding and better to travel when you can see, hence traveling during the day.
Final Thoughts
The journey I have taken to Jardin de Señorita Mountain Resort is indeed an experience that lingers in the mind and heart of an individual. It is just a respiring nature, very fresh air, and the simplicity of living pleasures. I would say adventure and a snug little escape as a getaway. There is all this in the resort. I am honored to have visited this place, and I'm planning to return here. If you visit Davao Del Sur, you shouldn't miss this mountain paradise at all.
