Three days ago, my friends @whosee, @cintilla, and @rheign posted here on Hive about raising funds to donate to those who were affected by the earthquake and have not yet received any relief goods. I was inspired by their initiative, so I decided to make a post as well. Thankfully, my post reached enough upvotes to buy some food and basic necessities for those in need. I am truly grateful to everyone who supported it because it made a big difference.
For those who might not know, Cebu City was struck by a magnitude 6.9 earthquake, with Bogo City being the epicenter. The tremor caused severe damage to nearby areas, including our town in San Remigio. Many infrastructures were destroyed, and countless families were displaced. Some people lost their homes while others were left with limited access to food and clean water. The days following the earthquake were extremely difficult because help and relief goods did not reach our area right away. We understood that patience was important, but it was also heartbreaking to see people struggle with hunger and thirst while waiting for assistance.
Because of this situation, my friends and I here on Hive decided to start a small fundraising campaign to help those in need of food and water. Our initial plan was to use the HBD we would earn from our posts to buy goods ourselves and personally distribute them to the affected families. We wanted to make sure that help would reach those who truly needed it. However, as we continued to discuss our plan, we realized that it might not be the safest and most practical option. The aftershocks were still ongoing, and there was always the fear that another strong tremor might occur while we were out. In addition to that, we did not have the proper means of transportation to carry the goods to far areas. Our funds were also limited and not enough to support even a hundred households.
After careful thought, we decided to donate the HBD we earned to a fellow Hiver who was already hosting a fundraising campaign for the earthquake victims. I chose to send my HBD to @indayclara after my friend @whosee told us that she and her team had been organizing relief operations since the start of the calamity. I sent my share of HBD to @whosee, and he then forwarded all our donations to @indayclara on our behalf. It felt good to know that our contributions, no matter how small, would go to people who could extend real help on the ground.
I want to sincerely thank everyone who upvoted our posts and showed their support. Because of your kindness and generosity, we were able to take part in helping those affected by this devastating event. Your simple act of upvoting may seem small, but it has brought hope and relief to others who are struggling. It proves that even through online communities like Hive, people can still come together to make a difference during difficult times.
Although we were also affected by the earthquake, knowing that we could do something to help others is truly fulfilling. It reminded me that despite the fear, uncertainty, and loss brought by this disaster, humanity and compassion still prevail. It is comforting to see people supporting one another, whether through donations, volunteering, or even by spreading awareness. In times like these, it becomes clear that we are not alone in our struggles. There are people out there who genuinely care and are willing to help in any way they can.
To @indayclara and her team, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your hard work and dedication. I know you are also going through a difficult time, yet you still choose to serve others selflessly. Your initiative and courage are inspiring, and I hope God continues to bless you with strength, protection, and more opportunities to help those in need. What we have given may not be much, but I am happy to know that it can be part of something bigger. Sometimes, it is not about how much we give, but the sincerity behind it that truly matters.
To everyone who has been affected by this calamity, I want to remind you that we are all in this together. The pain, fear, and exhaustion we feel right now will not last forever. We may have lost homes, belongings, or even loved ones, but we still have our strength, faith, and unity as a community. This earthquake may have shaken our land, but it has also strengthened our hearts. It taught us how to be resilient, to hold on to hope, and to value the simple blessings that we often overlook.
As we continue to recover from this disaster, I pray for healing, peace, and better days ahead for everyone. Let us continue to help and support one another, no matter how small our actions may seem. Each effort counts, and together, we can rebuild what has been lost. We will rise again stronger than before, not just as individuals, but as a community that learned the true meaning of compassion and unity through one of the hardest times of our lives.
