Hello chess players and lovers of the game,

Welcome back to my game blog, where I talk about games, my experience playing them, and everything game-related. This weekend is going to be a chess weekend for me as there will be three consecutive HiveChess tournaments. starting today.

Sadly, in today's round, I missed out on the first six rounds of the tournament. I totally got carried away by time. It was a Swiss round and apparently my first Swiss tournament and even my first Friday Hivechess tournament hosted by @stayoutoftherz.

The strong player with the long username won the tournament with a perfect score of 9 out of 9, followed by another player with the username Pavarotty and then a similar face, tangible_ay, coming in 3rd place.

Since I joined the tournament later, in the 7th round, I did not have the opportunity to meet these strong players while playing, and I only had the chance to play three games out of nine, finishing with a record of 3/9.

Here is a snapshot of the position from my first game vasigo, where everything was fine in the position until they made a blunderous capture in the position, exd4. This is quite bad because it drops a piece on the square f4, the black knight. At this point, I am up a piece in this position, so it should be easy to wrap it all up and get the win. Yeah, I did just that, but I still missed the opponent to capture another free piece my opponent gave to me in the position.

The next game was against knighthammer7, and on move 4, I decided to go for a sac on f7. The position was a bit too quiet for me, and I needed some form of excitement to get the position rolling, so I went with the flow. On the other hand, I knew it would lead to some complications for my opponent to figure out while I played simple chess.

At this point, I knew things were already in my favour to win this game. The position looks harder for black to play, and I am on my way to grabbing another free piece after I played the move e5, since the knight on f6 is pinned to the black queen and is under attack by my pawn. In the game, my opponent chose to save their knight instead, leaving their queen at the mercy of my g5 bishop.

My last game was against RDcast, and I chose to play c5 as my response to their e4 opening. I find this game interesting because it is quite ironic that I made a sac on f7 and now in this game my opponent was the one doing the sacking on me. But this time the sac favours me since I have more developed pieces and I can easily move my king to g8 after developing my dark-squared bishop. That is exactly what I did in the game.

Unfortunately, I missed six games in the tournament, but hopefully I will be more prepared in the next round. Up next is the Saturday Hivechess Tournament from @sam.chess.

See you in the next tournament. I am @southgamer. Try gaming and thank me later.
