Hey chess players,
It is my pleasure to have you all once again on my blog, @southgamer. This week has not been the best for me, with a lot of activity and tough choices to make. I am currently in the hunt for a new job, or probably looking for something else to add to one I already have, because the daily cost of living is currently holding me down.
Either way, with that aside, I decided to participate in the Saturday HiveChess Tournament since I was looking for something to take my mind off thinking and ease the stress. Yeah, I know you would say it is quite risky to play chess when you want to ease your stress, but what happens when you lose? Well, that is also true, but what choice was I left with, so I just played anyway.
To my impressive surprise, I did well, way more than I was expecting. I play simple chess, and I kept my idea plain and simple, looking for tactics and berserk all your games so you can gain more points since it's a 5+0 tournament. This plan of mine worked well, and even my mate, @iamchessguy, commended me on his post, Hivechess Season 1 Round 7 Report - 9th Place!, he said I am in form and he has not been able to win a game against me. The war against us on the board is not over yet, my friend.
I had an impressive rating performance of 2272, winning 10 games out of the 13 games I played, and all on Beserk. My only loss where against the strong IM Odnoobraz_bcm and @jaki01. I lost two games to the IM and one game to Jaki, but aside from that, I did well.
Here is one of my impressive wins against a 2200+ player named Dakods-16. I would say I was lucky in this game because at some point I was losing badly in the position, then things turned in my favor after he made a rook blunder as shown in the position above. The move is a blunder because it drops a free rook, and after I captured with my bishop, my passed pawn on the d7 square will be a strong threat.

This second game was against Jaki, and I would like to refer to the game as a game of equal chances. Although Jaki pressed me hard in the opening, especially when he tried to capitalize on my weak d6 pawn, this got better for me when I launched a king-side attack. From the above screenshot of the position, this was where my opponent made the blunder that sealed the game for me.
Can you spot the best move?
Yeah, Qh5.
That is not all, but a step in the right direction. What comes after the queen move is Rd7 because he cannot stop the rook from going down to d1. The only way will be to lose his queen, which is what happened in the game.

It was amazing to participate in the Saturday HiveChess Tournament organized by @sam.chess. I hope I will be able to keep up with this performance in the next round.
See you in the next round.
I am @southgamer. Try gaming and thank me later.
