Hello gamers and game lovers,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all back to my gaming blog where I talk about the games I play and my experience while playing them.
As you know it's the weekend and you know how I spend my weekends. If you are new to this blog just know I spend my weekends playing games. Video games on Friday, HiveChess on Saturday, and a Rento monopoly tournament on Sunday, that's my schedule. That is my special way of cooling off from my busy 9 - 5 job as a designer.
Over the years there has been one special game I have always fantasy but I don't know shit about how the game is played or the rules that govern the game. All I know are the things I see in movies like The Gambler where Mark Wahlberg was a degenerate gambler ready to risk it all and 27 where Kevin Spacey was a sick professor obsessed with poker.
You know movies like that have always grabbed my interest in the game and made me eager to learn how to play. Sadly I just never made time. But today I am turning the cards around.
You see what I did there.
Today, I decided it was high time I stopped procrastinating my desire to learn poker and just get started right away. So I went on the Google Play Store and searched for the best poker game app I could get that would help teach me the game while playing as well.
I came across a couple. Even the first one I downloaded called Poker Trainer was quite wacky. The interface was okay but after downloading I was wondering why their reviews were low as well as their downloads. The app had a payment subscription embedded in the app for more training. I haven't started with the training and you are already asking me for a fee. What if you aren't good at teaching the game?
Although there was a free trial option that I went for but the teaching was more of me doing it myself with no game examples of practical interaction to keep me going. On the get-go go I was already getting bored and it was just the first lesson.
Then I finally settled for Zynga Poker.
First of all, I have to say the interface is very nice and engaging as I opened the app. I had to sign up for my account after opening the account.
Then I was welcomed by Rose, my casino guide. What a clever way to keep one hooked in the casino. Bring a pretty lady to keep the client glued and forget all about the spending I will encounter at the casino.
Rose was teaching me about my cards, what they mean, how to raise, and when you fold when the cards are not in your favour. Even though your cards are not good, you fold to over losing much money.
What made it more fun for me was when I had a good card and Rose told me to go all in. No time man, I did that with every fiber in me.
Now this is how to teach a beginner how to play poker. Get them excited when teaching them what it means to raise, stake, and fold. So far I can say I am enjoying the game as I learn more. Almost forgot. I won a couple of million I will be using to play more rounds.
Also, I think I will be watching some videos on YouTube to help improve my poker skills. If you have some good recommendations, the comment is wide open.
Until then I am @southgamer. Try gaming and thank me later.
