Saturday Hivechess Tournament

Hey chess players and lovers of the game of chess,

I did not just have it today in this round of the Saturday Hivechess tournament. I played an awful game today, and I simply got pissed off and just let the event. I pulled out. I tried, but it felt like I was not having a good day, coupled with I did not get a good night's sleep. It was like everything I played was totally wrong.

There was even a game where I had a free pawn just lying around, and I did nothing about it. Left it there for a while before I went ahead to capture, even at some point, I forgot I had a free piece there.

I lost a shit ton of games, all back to back, and the ones I won, I escaped by a thread. Making it a lucky one as well. I do not know what to say about it, but it is just annoying. Only a 43% win rate, 1800+ rated performance, and a 13th place standing finish.

At first, I was not berserking. I just wanted to play a simple game, but then when after the first loss, I realized I needed to berserk to gain more points; if not, I would be coming from behind, fighting to get into the top 10.

This is when the rubbish play started. Why close the only escape route for the bishop by pushing the e3 pawn? I did not think of the danger I would be placing that bishop in. Closing the escape route with a simple blundering move, and I did it with much confidence. Not much and nothing less, but it took the position from a fighting chance into a whole horrible one within the blink of an eye. From there, it was bad moves only. Just bad, bad followed by another bad one.

This is another game that I wasted no time in playing the horrible moves. I got into an attack position where I was looking for a quick one on the checkmate of black's king. There is nothing more disappointing than the fact that I did not get it; instead, I went on a giving spree of free pieces. Not holding anything back. My opponent did not waste time in grabbing the pawn and defended well. I lost more and more as well.

That was my dilemma in this round of the tournament. It is not easy to keep a winning streak.
