Hey chess players and chess lovers,
Welcome to the blog of @southgamer, where I love to talk about the games I play, my experience while playing the game, and anything game-related. Of late, the game that has taken over my Saturday is the Saturday HiveChess Tournament organized by @sam.chess.
This round was a bit easier compared to the previous rounds I have played because only a few chess players participated. There were only 18 players present in the event, quite a low number compared to the previous round, where 23 players participated. A notable person who wasn't present in this round was @stayoutoftherz, who hardly misses tournament rounds like this one.
Once again, I put up a decent performance in this round. Not too bad and not too good, I guess the improvement has come in slowly already. I had a win rate of 47% and a berserk rate of as I did not 53%. I did not go all out with my berserk in this round, as I hoped there might be a difference. There was a difference, but not much, as when I finally started berserking for more points, it was too late; the tournament was almost over.
The strong player with the strange, long username won the tournament again, alongside the other players who had a pretty good experience in whipping me easily. They are fast and precise. Even when I responded with a berserk was well, it felt like it was only my time that was running.
This was my first mouse slip during the tournament. I wanted to play bishop to the square f5, instead I mistakenly clicked on g6 where the bishop way easily. I shouted at my screen when this happened. It is soon painful and even more painful when your opponent is fast to capture it back, without a single second of hesitation. After dropping the bishop, it was not hard for my opponent to win the game when he fully mobilized his pieces.
This is where my opponent made a big mistake by pushing his pawn. It allows my queen to come in with a check, and what follows next is a checkmate. When my opponent made that pawn push, I had a sigh of relief because I knew I had the game from that big mistake.
This is the game against the winner of the tournament. In this given position, my fate was already sealed, but I did not know it yet. My black king is in more trouble than I can count, making the mate that will come soon inevitable. I tried my best the second time I got paired against the winner, but once again I lost. I just know when someone is the stronger player.
Nice games, everyone, and congratulations to the winners; you all played well.
I am @southgamer. Try gaming and thank me later.
