Hey gamers and game lovers,
It is @southgamer, and I welcome you to my blog. I love to talk about the games I play and anything game-related. It has been more than a month since I last played a round of the weekly Sunday Rento tournament. This is because I often forget about it, especially when there are only a couple of minutes left until the start of the tournament.
You have to be waiting in the lobby at least 5 minutes before the tournament starts to get the chance of being paired. I was present for today's round, but Lady Luck was not on my side. I guess she is upset with me because I have not asked for her help in recent times. But wait for a second, I do still need her help in my newfound obsession with poker.
How I knew she was not on my side was from the beginning of the game when the lands were drafted out to each player. Oh boy, the place I got was not helpful at all. They were low-earning places, and to crown it all up, I did not have all three pieces of any particular place to enable me to start building.
Even though I was the first player who got the chance to spin the dice before others, and that is usually a good sign when playing these kinds of tournaments, because you get the opportunity to be the first player that makes a trade, or if you are so lucky to build property.
It did not last for long when I landed in the Vatican, the only land that allows you to build immediately, since it has only one piece, but all players have to bid for the place. The highest bidder wins the place. I tried my best to bid as much as I could afford, but when the price got to over 1,500, I had to fall back. That is too much, given our 2000 starting capital.
Only a single deal was made by two players, and I was not one of them. Who would want to trade with someone with worthless places? Even the trades I offered were rejected. Honestly, even I would not accept the trade.
Then, when I went to jail, I did not even bother myself with coming out what was the jail. I was simply a dead man working in the game; I would even deny that. Finally, I got an offer for my station in exchange for Libya. Since I already had Sudan, I took the offer and used my remaining cash to build, but not too long after, I landed in a property that is not mine. So I lost it all and sold all my properties.
I have to say that my tournaments this weekend have not been all rosy, starting with yesterday's Saturday Hivechess and now the Sunday Rento tournament. I guess it was not a win-win weekend, but I got to enjoy myself, and that is what matters to me.
Thanks for reading. I am @southgamer. Try gaming and thank me later.
