When I hear this word, I immediately think of the work of Alphonse Mucha, a leading figure of Art Nouveau and one of my favorite painters. If we’re ready… let’s start drawing!
Hola amigos y comunidad de Holozing, espero estén teniendo un muy lindo día. Hoy continuamos dibujando y llevando a cabo el reto del Zingtober. Me encanta poder estar otro año más participando, así que vamos a seguir el calendario del Inktober para ver cuál es el prompt de hoy... y el prompt de hoy es Ornate.
Cuando escucho esta palabra, enseguida imagino la obra de Alphonse Mucha, exponente del art nouveau, es de mis pintores favoritos. ¡Si estamos listos... comencemos a dibujar!
As I mentioned in the introduction, today’s drawing is inspired by Art Nouveau and the work of Alphonse Mucha, specifically his piece Zodiac. Mucha’s art features many recurring and iconic elements—metallic motifs, nature both living and dead, angelic female faces, and a delicate interplay between golden and pastel tones. His works are richly adorned, ornate, and full of detail.
The challenge today is to incorporate those elements into my drawing, while still following not only the prompt but also the rule of using only grayscale.
Our protagonist will be Forest Healer, shown in profile. Above her head floats a halo of clover flowers. From her ear hangs a beautiful emerald earring ending in a clover. Her hair flows ethereally, and behind her, a circle of metallic clovers surrounds her.
For the background, I’ll be using a free-use floral texture brush. I’m working entirely in Photoshop, using a defined line art but more realistic gradients—just like Mucha himself. I believe this is the most conceptual drawing of this Zingtober, and I truly enjoyed creating it.
Como adelantaba en la introducción, el dibujo de hoy estará inspirado en el art nouveau y la obra de Alphonse Mucha, específicamente en su pieza Zodiac. La obra de Mucha tiene muchos elementos que se repiten y son característicos: motivos metalizados, naturaleza viva y muerta, rostros casi angelicales de mujeres y un juego entre los colores dorados y pasteles. En fin, obras llenas de adornos, ornamentadas y detalladas. El reto será incorporar esos elementos en mi dibujo, siempre siguiendo no solo el prompt de hoy sino también la regla de usar solamente una escala de grises. Nuestra protagonista será Forest Healer, de perfil. Sobre su cabeza flota un halo de flores de tréboles. De su oreja cuelga un hermoso pendiente de esmeraldas terminado en un trébol. Su pelo flota de forma etérea, y detrás de ella un círculo de tréboles metalizados la envuelve. Para el fondo utilizaré un pincel de textura floral de uso libre. Estaré usando Photoshop para completamente todo mi dibujo, y estaré trabajando con un line art definido pero degradados más realistas, como el propio Mucha. Creo que este es el dibujo más conceptual de este Zingtober y disfruté mucho dibujándolo.
