Today we welcome back two protagonists: Ocean Healer and Zingu, guardians of the sea—two friends who love fishing and exploring all the oceans of the world. That’s where they’re happiest: swimming, fishing, and protecting the creatures that live beneath the waves.
Hola amigos y comunidad de Holozing, espero estén teniendo un muy lindo día. Hoy continuamos dibujando y llevando a cabo el reto del Zingtober, y me encanta poder estar otro año más participando. Así que vamos a seguir el calendario del Inktober para ver cuál es el prompt de hoy... ¡y el prompt de hoy es Arctic! Hoy volvemos a tener dos protagonistas: le daremos la bienvenida a Ocean Healer y Zingu, guardianes del mar, dos amigos que disfrutan de ir a pescar y visitar todos los océanos del mundo. Es ahí donde más felices son: pescando, nadando, pero también protegiendo a las criaturas que lo habitan.
Let’s get to drawing! As I mentioned earlier, we’ll be using Ibis Paint again today. The idea is very simple: Ocean Healer wearing a coat and scarf, accompanied by Zingu—also bundled up in a cozy scarf—both protected from the cold as they set off on an expedition to the Arctic. Behind them, a faded map guides them toward new adventures in those cold, unexplored lands.
I started my drawing by sketching Ocean Healer’s pose—and I won’t lie, I went with something quick and simple. Placing Zingu on his shoulder felt almost mandatory. I really liked the composition, and once I was happy with it, I moved on to the line art, using black ink and playing with line weight for variation.
Next came the coloring stage, sticking to a grayscale palette. I played a lot with black, adjusting opacity and blending modes to create depth. I also used the airbrush tool to soften and blend certain areas of the drawing.
The final result definitely exceeded my expectations. This was a drawing I enjoyed from the very first sketch to the last detail!
Bueno, comenzamos a dibujar. Como comenté anteriormente, estaremos ocupando Ibis Paint y la idea es muy simple: Ocean Healer con abrigo y bufanda, acompañado de Zingu, también con bufanda, protegidos del frío mientras se disponen a iniciar una expedición hacia el Ártico. A sus espaldas se difumina el mapa que los guía a nuevas aventuras, a esas frías tierras sin explorar. Comencé mi dibujo planteando la pose de Ocean Healer, y no los voy a engañar: me fui por lo más sencillo y rápido en cuanto a la pose. Colocar a Zingu en su hombro resultó casi obligatorio. La composición me gustó mucho, y cuando estuve satisfecho comencé a realizar todo el line art de mi dibujo en negro, jugando con el valor lineal. Después vino el coloreado, respetando la regla de usar solo escala de grises. Jugué mucho colocando siempre negro y simplemente cambiando opacidades y modos de fusión. También utilicé bastante el aerógrafo para difuminar algunas partes de mi dibujo. El resultado final, sin dudas, satisface con creces mis expectativas. Este fue un dibujo que disfruté desde el proceso hasta el último detalle.
