So let’s follow the Inktober calendar—after taking a few days off, it’s time to speed up the pencil and catch up! Let’s see what today’s prompt is… and today’s prompt is Rivals!
Today we’re featuring two protagonists: let’s welcome Infurnal and Zingu. Despite their kind natures, the elemental contrast they represent—Fire and Ice—makes them natural rivals. Though in truth, it feels more like a friendly competition between opposites. From time to time, these two creatures plan encounters where they face off to showcase their skills and strengths.

Hoy continuamos dibujando y llevando a cabo el reto del Zingtober, y me encanta poder estar otro año más participando. Así que vamos a seguir el calendario del Inktober—después de tomarme unos días, hay que apurar el lápiz para ponernos al día. Vamos a ver cuál es el prompt que nos toca hoy… ¡y el prompt de hoy es Rivals! Hoy volvemos a tener dos protagonistas: le daremos la bienvenida a Infurnal y Zingu, que a pesar de sus naturalezas amables, la diferencia de elementos que representan—Fuego y Hielo respectivamente—los convierte en rivales naturales. Aunque en verdad, más que una rivalidad, parece una simple competencia de habilidades entre opuestos. De vez en cuando, estas dos criaturas planean encuentros donde se enfrentan para demostrar sus habilidades y fortalezas.
As I mentioned, I’ll be drawing our two protagonists: Infurnal and Zingu—blazing Fire and freezing Ice. I’ll illustrate them as if they were in one of those classic fighting game screens, with a bold line dividing the rivals and a big “Versus (Vs.)” in the center, just like the arcade covers I used to love. I’ll be using Ibis Paint for the entire drawing and sticking to a grayscale palette. I’ll try to avoid pure white as much as possible, and black will be used only for the line art. I started with a simple sketch and gradually added lines and shading—not just with solid tones but also with gradients. Each side will have a simple background, maybe with some textures. I had to change the initial pose idea, but everything turned out just as I wanted. I gave the “Vs.” some metallic details with gradients. I really liked this drawing and the final result. I especially enjoyed painting Infurnal for the first time.
Estaré, como dije, dibujando a nuestros dos protagonistas: Infurnal y Zingu—Fuego ardiente y Hielo que congela. Los dibujaré como si fueran esas pantallas de peleas, con una gran línea que divide a los rivales y un gran “Versus (Vs.)” en el centro, como esas portadas de peleas en los juegos arcade que tanto me gustaban. Estaré usando Ibis Paint para todo el dibujo, y utilizando una paleta restringida solamente a escala de grises. Trataré de evitar lo más posible el color blanco, y el negro será solamente para el line art. Comencé con un boceto simple y poco a poco fui añadiendo líneas y coloreando, no solo con colores sólidos sino también con degradados. A ambas secciones les haré un fondo simple, quizás con algunas texturas. Tuve que cambiar de idea de posiciones al principio, pero todo salió justo como quería. Al “Vs.” quise darle algunos detalles metalizados con degradados. Me gustó mucho este dibujo y el resultado final. Disfruté este dibujo y pintar a Infurnal por primera vez.
