Today I woke up wanting to play Pokémon—I love the Let's Go Pikachu version, maybe because I played Pokémon Yellow a lot and it was one of my favorite Pokémon games. When I opened the game today, I noticed my save file was right before the Electric-type Gym. Join me on a journey through Kanto, from that Gym to the famous and eerie Lavender Town. Let’s see which Pokémon and trainers cross our path. Here we go!

And so, we stand at the gates of the Electric-type Gym in Vermilion City. Our third Pokémon badge awaits in the hands of Lieutenant Surge and his Electric-type Pokémon. But first, we must defeat a few trainers—many of whom also use Electric-types. We’ll be seeing plenty of Magnemite along the way.

And yes, we’ll be using our Pikachu to win all the battles. It’s not the best strategy—Electric vs. Electric—but our Pikachu is really strong thanks to all the care we’ve given it and the candies it’s eaten. Plus, its Zippy Zap attack seems to have a bit of a physical component, haha.

And so, we defeated all the trainers before the Gym Leader using nothing but Pikachu’s electric power and speed. A Magnemite, a Voltorb, and a Pikachu—they were no match, haha. Did you know you can tell a Pikachu’s gender by the shape of its tail?
