This photograph belongs to a series I took some time ago about statues. On other occasions, I’ve shared some of these photos, all centered around statues—mostly angels and cherubs—captured in black and white, in darkness, using only bounce light and sometimes flash. This series is among my favorites of all the photos I’ve taken. I believe what stands out most are the contrasts between light and shadow and the use of black and white. I also aimed to highlight the imperfections in the statues and the details of dirt and decay. This particular photo focuses on close-up details, while the statue in the background appears barely distinguishable.
Esta fotografía pertenece a una serie de fotografías sobre estatuas que tomé hace tiempo. En otras ocasiones he compartido algunas de estas fotos, todas centradas en estatuas—la mayoría de ángeles y querubines—tomadas en blanco y negro, en la oscuridad, con solo ayuda de una luz de rebote y, en ocasiones, el flash. Es una serie que se encuentra entre mis favoritas de todas las fotos que he tomado, y creo que lo que más destaca de ellas son los contrastes entre la luz y la oscuridad y el uso del blanco y negro. También busqué mostrar mucho las imperfecciones en las estatuas y los detalles de suciedad y deterioro.
