A few days ago, I downloaded a filter app for my phone and discovered a beautiful 8mm filter that gives photos a retro feel. If I’m not mistaken, the filter tries to emulate a Super 8 camera—a perfect choice for homemade photography. Today, I’m sharing a glimpse of nature seen through those 8mm eyes.

Hace unos días descargué una aplicación de filtros para mi teléfono y descubrí un filtro de 8 mm muy bonito que le da a las fotos ese aire retro. Creo que, si no me equivoco, el filtro trata de emular una Super 8. Creo que es una cámara perfecta para fotografía casera. Hoy les comparto parte de la naturaleza vista en esos 8mm.
The first photo I’m sharing is of this beautiful little yellow clover flower. I think it’s a very lovely flower, and although it’s quite small, it came out really well in the photo. I believe a fully analog camera wouldn’t have captured so much detail—that’s the beauty of combining digital clarity with an analog-style effect.

Next, we have a close-up of the leaves of a cassava plant. What I love most about this photo are the colors—the deep green is stunning and contrasts beautifully with the pinkish shine on parts of the leaves. It’s one of my favorite photos from this session.

This is another photo showing details of the leaves and branches of a pine tree, with light filtering through the gaps. I really liked this one too.

While walking that day, I saw in the garden of a house facing the street some red flowers growing in a very particular way. There were many of them, decorating thin branches, and I really liked this type of flower—so I took this photo.

I also think this photo of white flowers is very beautiful. It’s a large plant with shiny leaves. Often, taking pictures of wide white areas with this type of camera would cause glare or overexposed spots in the image—something that digital photography helps to fix. I think I’ll take some natural, unfiltered photos of these plants later on, because they truly deserve a post of their own.

And the last photo could only be of my beautiful bougainvilleas—a single shot capturing lovely white and pink flowers. I think it’s the perfect photo to end this post. Simple and modest flowers, yet incredibly beautiful.
