¡Hola amigos! Qué alegría estar aquí escribiendo un nuevo blog. Espero que estén teniendo un muy lindo día. Esta entrada será mi participación para el Phone Photography Contest – #74. Espero que les guste. Las fotos con las que participaré son de los relieves de la puerta del Capitolio de La Habana.
These doors have witnessed time and history. On the silent metal, allegorical images are carved in relief, representing different stages and events in Cuba’s past. Seeing these doors is like reading a history book.
Estas puertas han sido testigo del tiempo y de la historia. En el silencioso metal están talladas en relieve imágenes alegóricas a distintas etapas y acontecimientos de la historia de Cuba. Ver esas puertas es como ver un libro de historia.
Some of the figures have had their faces defaced, which gives them even greater symbolic weight. There are also dates, lions, and floral ornaments carved into the bronze. In total, there are around 60 bas-reliefs that span from the pre-Columbian cultures present on the island to the inauguration of the building itself.

As you can see in one of the photos in this post, the Capitol dome with its golden details can be seen from many parts of the city, contrasting with the decay of the surrounding neighborhoods.
