There are only two full works teams in the World Rally Championship (Toyota and Hyundai) with one private team with some support from Ford (M-Sport) so there is not much possibilities for 2019 WRC champion Ott Tanak to choose.
Yeah, his current team of Hyundai was kinda bad this year with only one win (Tanak's) and all the rest events were won by Toyota's drivers. That's not competitive team, if you ask me. But Hyundai wants better things for 2026 and that's why they want top line-up and with two champions (Thierry Neuville and Ott Tanak) and one very competitive guy, but still without a win (Adrien Fourmaux), they could be in good shape if the car will be better.
Hyundai Motorsport management wants Tanak to stay with them and in following weeks there should be some announcements. One thing is for sure: Tanak needs a winning car and Hyundai was not that one. Also their management was really bad whole season. With Andrew Wheatley as team leader, they could start 2026 from the zero...
