M-Sport regular Josh McErlean (Ireland) hopes for some improvement ahead of last two events of World Rally Championship season. He and his team-mate Gregoire Munster didn't have a season of dreams because team lacks funds for development but there is something called experience, which should help if their drivers have it.
Last year, M-Sport Ford had a podium regular in Adrien Fourmaux. But this year they just lack some pace. If Fourmaux is still in the team, I guess they would have better results. They just need top number one pilot and then other guys would perform much better. Martinš Sesks was in shape to be a top gun, but he performed last year at the top level at events he knows good. This year he couldn't fight against opposition which knows roads of special stages from before. But he will get another chance at Saudi Arabia event later this month.
But lets talk about McErlean a little bit. His favorite surface is gravel but there are hopes that he will reduce the gap to the leading guys. I don't know if they will test ahead of Japan, but they had Central European Rally last month and that was 300km of stages behind him. There is no better way of testing then on event itself.
We will see this weekend if he will do better then on CER when he finished 7th overall. Let the best win - as always...
