What's in a name? That which we call Steemit.chat, by any other name would function as well;

We've been working over the course of the last month to make improvements to the functionality of Steemit.chat without changing any of the user experience, and I think it's been going really well. Some signup problems have been fixed, servers have been upgraded, and speeds and active users have been steadily increasing! Borrowing some of the immortal words of the bard, we're making an announcement to talk about the changing of the Steemit.chat name:

Steemit.chat is now transitioning over to Steem.chat

Everything else stays the same: your , chat history... EVERYTHING else is still there and unchanged. This is just a new, updated, and more accurate name and domain name for the Steem Blockchain chat.

Why the changeover? And what is this new account for?

Steem.chat is a place to gather to talk about ALL things related to the Steem blockchain.

Steem is much more than just Steemit.

Steemit.chat will still work for a while,but we advise people to start using domain https://steem.chat

Steem.chat has over 160,000 rooms, with over 62,000 users signed up and growing each day. There are discusssions at all times for anything and everything Steem related... or even crypto related, maybe food related, sometimes dog related...

Some of the most used and important channels in Steem.chat:

We have a #help channel where tireless volunteers answer questions about Steem and Steemit 24/7
We have a #SMT channel to discuss the upcoming Smart Media Tokens
Our #general channel is incredibly busy and is a landing pad for new users, and a community commons that is bustling at all hours of the day
One of the most important channels, in my opinion, is the #Witness channel. Witnesses gather here to talk about the technological aspects of the Steem blockchain. It serves as a helpdesk, a think tank, and an information hub

Steem.chat is incredibly lucky to have SO MANY volunteers who help out 24 hours a day all over the chat. I'd like to start being able to show our appreciation for all they do.

Our plan is to start making weekly update/news/by the numbers posts about Steem.chat from this @steem.chat Steemit account. Not every week will be super exciting, but we'd like to talk about what's been happening and document the growth of chat. The rewards from these posts will be given to all active mods on Steem.chat as a thank you for the hard work that they put in.
