This year, Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti are happening on the same day. Means falling short of one holidays. In Our country both of these occasion have separate holidays as per the calendar. but as they are falling on same day, we are running sort of one holidays. The frustration has already began to be seen in the youth, as they started to post #meme and #videos on social media. Finding some of the videos, reminded me of my days in the corporate. Working for the foreign clients, it get very complicated to manage the Indian holidays as per their requirement. Furthermore, whenever certain holidays overlap each other, we find it disgusting. No only this if any festivals falls during the weekeend it also spoil our mood as weekend suppose to be weekly off for the employee. It also means unable to avail the holidays properly.
There are many people who always wait for the holidays to arivd so that they would relax and enjoy life. Holidays allow employees to pursue personal interests, settle personal matters, and spend time with family and friends. India being a vast nation with many culture and religion, has a long list of holidays. Apart from the fixed holidays announced by the government, there are many festival holidays. It varies as per region. Whether there are "enough" holidays in India is subjective, but our country has a substantial number of public holidays, with potentially 21 or more per year. Obviously, who does not likes to get pay for free without doing anything. Everyone loves holidays.
After every holiday and time spent with the family, I found myself to be more energetic and focussed in my work. The good time spent was quite relaxing and that little break from the work allows me to regain all the lost energy. As far as my work was related, I never let it to hamper. I was aware of my accountability, and made sure to complete before availing or enjoying the holidays. Holidays offer opportunities to gain new perspectives, refresh the mind, and engage in restorative activities. In my personal perspective, we do need more holidays because they improve physical and mental health by reducing stress, boosting energy, and improving well-being. Although some argue that excessive holidays hinder productivity and economic growth. But once the person get back to work with refreshed frame of mind they do cover up more for the lost productivity.
In good faith - Peace!!
