I was helping out at parkrun again yesterday as they seemed desperate for volunteers. There were over 200 finishers again. I was keen to do a long run today as I am making good progress with my running.
The weather has been a little cooler lately, but it warmed up this morning whilst I was out. I did my loop over to Letchworth this time. That starts with the usual run up to Fairfield. It looks like there was either an organised run or just kids having fun as there were messages all along the path encouraging people to run. I went through to the main road that undulates on the way to Standalone Farm where I got away from the road for a while.
I went straight through towards Norton. On the common there was a race going on that seemed to be mostly kids. I do not keep up with all the local events and do not enter many races. I may do the local 10k again.
Coming out of Norton I went off into Radwell Meadows before rejoining the road back to Stotfold. I managed a personal best through the underpass. In general I was trying to keep under 6min/km and had to speed up at times. This route has some hills that make that hard work.
I did not do any extra diversions as the run was going to be long enough anyway. I felt I had done enough when I got home.
We have been working in the garden again today. It is looking quite good now and we have more things to plant.
