Description from Strava:
It was due to rain today, but not looking too bad when I went out. I had not really planned where to go, but once I was out I decided to do the route through Letchworth. I was wanting to make it a fairly long one.
I saw a few squirrels today, both grey and black. The first one was just as I started up the hill to Fairfield. I also saw a few other runners. The road on the other side of Fairfield is busy and it undulates a bit, but I soon turned off into Standalone Farm. The 10k race that starts and ends there is next weekend, but I have not entered. I have done it a few times. I was surprised that there was no banner about it at the entrance.
I followed some of the race course through Letchworth and Norton, but then I diverted off to Radwell Meadows to get away from the road. I glimpsed a group of runners ahead of me there, but I did not catch them and they may have taken a different route.
I took the long way around Stotfold and then out into the country to run across the fields. This all made it my longest run in a while and the pace was not too bad at exactly 6min/km. It did rain a tiny bit at times, but not enough to really make me wet. It has been heavier since I got home and had my breakfast. I only had half a banana before I left.
I need to do more distance each week to build my stamina. I will stick with the long weekend run, but try to do more in the week.
